ONE BIT I TOTALLY FORGOT TO PUT IN THE VIDEO! The artbook says that Cy was just meant to be a joke reference to Metal Sonic, which I guess explains why they don't follow up on it as a cliffhangar. It wasn't meant to imply a second game as much as it was just a silly bonus clip, my guess.

Nice video! May I suggest a game for you to review? Please please please review Mario and the Music box! It's someone's attempt to put the Mario characters into an RPG horror game and to me it's REALLY good. I really enjoyed it. And I'd love to see what you think of it.

I love it so much how they didn't just forget that Ty has a family and you can actually visit his parents and even brother. They could've just made up some excuse as to why they are not in this game, especially Sly, he could've just go off on his own adventure since he's presented as a lone too cool for school guy. Instead they put them all in the game as an impostant part of gameplay, tht's so neat. And Sly settling down to become a boomerang merchant is unironically adorable

Funnily enough, the mud DID serve a purpose in the original, it actually slowed you down enough so that the next area would load. That was one of the big goals for Krome was to have almost no loading screens, so sometimes they had to implement stuff like that to fulfill it.

Fun fact actually, the mud and sand sections that slowed you down DID serve a purpose in the original. According to the developers, the mud was meant to slow the player and serve as a makeshift loading screen between areas. Because the consoles of the generation couldn't load the rest of the map on the fly, the mud and sand would slow you to a crawl so the parts of the map you were headed towards could load in. Now that the re-release is on more modern hardware, the rest of the map loads in while driving at normal speed, so the slow effect was removed.

32:55: The funny thing about TY 3 is, there's actually a way to bypass the melee combat almost entirely, now granted you have to get to Cassopolis first but once there you can buy some Earth Stones which are the best stones in the game combat-wise for one reason: combining two of them into one Chassis gives the boomerang the properties of the Kaboomerang, to make it easier to obtain them there's also bags of Opals just by the shop that give a fair amount of Opals, then you can just save, quit and reload the file and get more Opal bags until you have enough for the best Chassis (for six stone slots) or just to get two Earth Stones. One of the best Chassis to equip two Earth Stones to is the Lash Chassis because it gives exploding grapple hooks with a fast rate of fire. The custom boomerang system is a good idea on paper, in fact having two Stones of the same type giving the AOE versions is a great idea but the problem is the Quinkan will always block your Boomerangs from a distance unless you freeze them with two Water Stones or make them explode outright with two Earth Stones since they can't block explosions.

Good point about Ty 3 there. Having enemies that are vulnerable to certain elements would certainly make the elemental boomerangs much more useful. Especially if the enemies still have that high health pool, but take a LOT of damage from the element they're vulnerable to, so if they end up being spongy, it's because you're not using the right tool.

You actually had the best idea ever to fix the combat in ty 3
@GmodPlusWoW
@GmodPlusWoW 3 жыл бұрын
@@conceptofartz276 It seemed like a no-brainer to me. Thinking on your feet and using the right tools is a staple of the oldschool shooters that I'm a fan of. Use fire on Zombies and Cultists in Blood, use the Shrinker on tougher spongy enemies (and the Devastator on Octobrains) in Duke3D, use explosives to frag Zombies in Quake (and "Coolies" in Shadow Warrior, since those enemies turn into "Coolie Ghosts" if you don't gib them), etc. That kind of interplay between enemy and weapon makes your weapons like tools as well as toys, and your enemies like micro-puzzles as well as opponents. Normally when a target is spongy, you have no recourse but to keep dumping damage into them, but if they have certain weaknesses that a given weapon could exploit, not only do you save time and potentially more ammo, but you also feel smarter and more powerful for thinking on your feet.

I spent some time last year doing research with Cheat Engine to find memory values in the game and I found that they literally do use the exact same memory values, while every other bunyip/vehicle uses unique ones, meaning they quite literally are just reskins lmao (also don't worry we also hate the racing and lifter bunyips in speedruns too looooool)

When I was like 9, I was gifted an old original Xbox from my uncle with 3 games, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2 being among them. I remembered Ty being amazing, but after replaying it on the switch, I realize back then I only made it through like 10 percent of the missions. I would say this is one of the most underrated early 2000’s platformers.

Subpar? I mean maybe it’s my Nintendo bias speaking, but a 2D Metroid 15 years in the works, a WarioWare title, more Breath of the Wild 2 info, Shin Megami Tensei V, and a shit ton of really good looking remasters and collections is pretty bulky.

@Divisionlo

@@thevioletbee5879 Definitely fair, I think Nintendo had the strongest showing no doubt. Just meant in general. Ubisoft, Square Enix, Summer Games Fest, and Capcom were all lackluster imo despite all having a couple cool moments. Just wasn't a mind-blowing E3 like most others.

Hey NitroRad. Not sure if your read comments or not, but I just wanted to say thanks for doing these videos for 3D platformers. I never heard of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger before, but after watching your videos of the first & second Ty games, I would gladly check these games out, when I can. I will buy them for my Nintendo Switch of course. Ever since I played games like Spyro The Dragon, I have been very interested in trying out some different 3D platformers, but because I only grew up with the PS2, I didn't have that many options, aside from maybe Ratchet & Clank 1 from 2002 (if that counts as a platformer), but that's about it. I didn't know about Sly Cooper & Jak & Daxter until many years later. When watching your videos, your remind me of the days when video games were suppose to be fun, unique & experimental. And it always gives me good vibes & very nostalgic feelings.

This was my first "open world" game, even though it kind of isn't really. I remember getting completely lost while driving around. Despite driving hopelessly for hours, my kid brain didn't think to just load the save. Eventually I just turned the PS2 on and off, and was so incredibly relieved to be back in the town when the game booted up. It was legitimately worrying at the time, but I can look back on the experience fondly. Thanks for the memories, Nitro Rad!
