The story of "See" is metamorphic. The track emerged instrumentally - as per Tycho’s characteristic output - on the 2014 LP Awake. Months later it was remixed into a bubbling pop song by New York duo Beacon. 2017 brought the next phase, as Beacon's Thomas Mullarney III joined Tycho at Coachella to perform "See" (the first time the band has ever featured a vocalist). Now “See” has reached its final stage, re-recorded as a proper collaboration. Tycho touchstones abound, swirling melodies, stuttering percussion, lifted by a voice in flight.

I can't believe how long I've been following Tycho. Since discovering him, I've gone through junior high, finished high school, found my love, found my passions, basically been following him for the past 15 years and the guy is still doing music and not getting the fame he deserves. It's sad and also very inspirational. Nonetheless, I believe his time is coming soon!

But after hearing it live during the sunset last night in Asheville made me absolutely love this alternative version. I don't like it when artists talk about their works like this, because you invariably end up with fans like me who feel that the original instrumental work is superior. Who says that the original song wasn't "proper"? Well, apparently Tycho does. I like this remix, but it doesn't have remotely the same energy or feel to it that the original track does. This feels like a totally different song.
