I wasn’t confused at all when I heard the message. I grew up in a Baptist church and was baptized at the age of 8 I’m now 39. I knew exactly what he meant (also I was a member of tye’s church for several years when I lived in Orlando). People (Christians and non Christians) identify the current institution of church and the people in it as God. God has one church, biblically speaking. The physical building and the structure and people in it is not God. Jesus, the Holy Spirit, The Father Jehovah etc is God…..also, those people who were listening to Tye who misinterpreted what he said and used it as a reason to not go to church wasn’t going in the first place….I guarantee you. Because if all the antics a lot of these churches got going on to draw in these non believers: (Clubbing in the church, Santa clause, reindeer and swag surfing etc…) ain’t work, this had nothing to do with it. And all of these antics and things that are not a reflection of God is exactly why the church is not God. Biblically speaking you should separate holy from what’s unholy. And that is not to say God isn’t in the church it’s to say don’t make this institution , structure and people of the church your God. Because the church should be a reflection of Christ but what we see today is a reflection of the world in the church. I personally know a Christian who is okay with the swag surfing type of church, if you are in the same thinking this is where the confusion is for me personally……Please focus in on the point that tye made about the pastoral process. Just because someone is a pastor doesn’t mean they are called. There is a system that is put in place for someone to become a pastor with classes etc. Men can put you in the position to lead a church that doesn’t mean God assigned them, which can lead a church to reflect the world and not the Word. We have to get back to Bible and not culture. And for the young lady who said tye said God isn’t in the church that is NOT true. Please don’t claim someone is being blasphemous when they aren’t. His words were ‘I learned that God is not the church’. And he explained what he meant. Basically saying he grew up thinking the church was God. And charlamagne gave a Bible scripture that aided his point……I can recall this and yet no one corrected her during this discussion. Jesus said I build my church upon this rock. Jesus is the groom and the church is the bride. Now that is biblical. Read James 1:26/27 to understand what is pure religion…….And also the issue is the World does understand the church because there are churches who reflect the world more so than God. So there is no separation there which is the issue. There are more people who are religious than have a relationship with Christ. You will ride and die for your pastor and your church before you give it all up for Christ. There are churches out there who are aligned with the world but I have a feeling that are a lot more who aren’t which is why there is so much division and confusion. I’ll say this again God only has one church.

Charlemagne is coming from his jehovah witness upbringing. The church is an institution, we humans who are the children of God are the true church. That’s why the church is a living organism. God is in church institution because we are the temple of God not the building. Y’all talking about the church as an institution vs the body of Christ.
