Just wanted to say that I told my best friend just now - going through books, we were - about the Dane Preben Torp Jacobsen who via his book, Dry-fly fishing - taught me how to tie in the mid 70s - no YT then, mind you. I said to her: the same with the blessed Davie McPhail: there are thousands and thousands of tiers out there but hardly many like Davie any more - it's about mindset. hi davie, sometimes you lay the thread base down a few turns and break off, other times you take it farther down the hook shank. How do you decide how far down to go?
