I enjoyed that Davie! A classic beautifully tied - love simple flies, they are so effective! I had to smile the way the partridge fibers obediently made their way around the hook shank - you are such a master of your materials :) I use a lot of my large feathers in dubbing brushes where I can trim the bases to get the length of fibers I want. A Wooly Bugger body tied with a squirrel and partridge dubbing brush body will out fish the standard chenille and hackle body every time. ATB!

If I used a hairdryer at my bench I’d be enveloped in a cloud of bits and pieces of feather, hair, tinsel, the lot. How to keep your bench tidy might be a useful subject for a video. I just can’t throw away anything that looks as if it might conceivably have a use😳. It’s great watching Davie spin stuff round a hook like that, perfect first time, every time. Can’t recall seeing anyone else with that control of materials.

Hello, So there, bravo! I still learned a great trick to use these feathers that we do not really know what to do, except to be used on streamers or salmon flies. In addition, the fly that you present is of a simplicity that I love. In your opinion, could we do the same with fibers from large rooster hackles? Thank you again for all the tips you teach us, I think that in one year, watching your videos, I made more progress than in 40 years of fishing and fly tying! All the best Y. Sultan

Just brilliant! What an awesome way of using up those longer feathers. I currently use the longer partridge hackles for shrimp legs or tails but now have the added bonus of continuing to tie spiders when you think that all the correct hackles have been used up on the skin. Thank you for sharing Davie, I'm always interested to learn of adaptations for use of longer or less used feathers on a skin. Do you have any recommendations for using the longer fibre feathers on a waterhen skin?
