Beautiful as always, you are a very meticulous tier who makes it look easy. I know it is not as easy as you make it look. Thanks for sharing your vast knowledge of flies with us. I for one appreciate your time spent on making these video's. All the best to you and your family, Sean

Excellent Davie you are a skilled artisan at your chosen life time craft .I am a pure beginner at this with all the gear and some idea so presentations like this are very informative but one thing that may be useful apart from all the materials you use is to explain how do you actually fish/use the fly , maybe just explain how this cruncher or crunchers in general are presented ,ie is it going to be on the point ,dropper ,sinking ,midge tip washing line etc etc.You do occasionally explain how you would utilise flys on various presentations as I am a avid follower of your work and from a beginner’s point of view it just rounds off the whole episode .Anyway thanks indeed

Hi Davie. From many years I also used small feathers for eyes or fins in my different models flies. They make the flies more attractive to fish. Nice job. All the best. Miro

lovely Davie, I'll take a dozen!!! another wee cracking variation on a method. It's amazing how just changing the colour of the body or thorax can cause such a stir amongst the fish. I do a nice wee version in black with a pearl rib with a holo red over rib, can be quite a bag filler throughout the season.

What are the differences between crunchers & spiders please Davie?
@DavieMcPhail8 жыл бұрын
Hi Dewi Jones, The Cruncher is a name for a certain style of fly used in Stillwaters and they are just spider patterns much as you would tye and fish on the rivers or lochs.. All the very best Davie

Hi Davie I have just got in to the Scottish youth fly fishing team and internatonals is at the lake of mentieth and I am looking for fly suggestions because all I can tie is blobs and buzzers.
@DavieMcPhail5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jake H, I do have many good patterns on here that would suit the Lake like the one in this video which I have tyed for there, it's also worth doing in different colours like black and olive...Dries like hoppers, sedge/hogs, shuttlecocks and klinkhamers, and comparaduns like the double-decker are all worth having..Cormorants, crunchers, snatchers and diawl-bachs in most colours are also high up the list though you will get lots of info from the team near the time and when you are practising...Congratulations in qualifying for the team as you are a winner already.. All the very best Davie..

Hi davie what uv resin do you use? Jay
@DavieMcPhail6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, I've used many UV Resins as they are all very much the same. I do prefer a lite/thin version for most flies like buzzers and thorax covers though I like a regular version for larger patterns and heads of fry patterns.. All the very best Davie..

Hi Davie the double hook is that for trout or sammon? regards Harry
@DavieMcPhail10 жыл бұрын
Hi Harry, Doubles for trout are not just as popular as they used to be due to catch and release but salmon doubles are very popular... All the very best Davie

Great tie as always Davie, may I suggest you clear up your speech so we can figure out the materials you used that you not posting. In short, you are mumbling and through the years it only gets worse. Also you could edit your closed captions as they come out in weird ways. For this reason I did not LIKE.
