At last, a good video. Straight to the point, no frustrating long winded over explanations, forcing me to fast forward whilst swearing. Well done sir, you got my sub and like.

Between vision issues, arthritis, 12X tippet (thinner than a hair), and a 1/220 ounce marmooska jig (one of those with a vertical hole through the head instead of an eye) and a hook about size 24, I got it tied in about half an hour! Thanks for this video.

Starting using the double pitzon knot recently after watching this video and it is amazing how much better it is. I was pulling limbs up off the bottom when hung that I know would have broken on my previous knot.

I spent an hour in my garage playing with this knot that I learned from a different video and I thought I was doing it wrong and today I find out I'm SUPPOSED to have multiple tag ends and I was doing it right all along. Raging. I'm absolutely raging.

What about a smell knot? I’ve had a lot of luck with it and it’s super easy to tie.

Hey Shaw...do you wrap the double pitzen more times when using lighter line...or is 3 wraps sufficient for all line tests? Thanks!

I can do this knot with braid and a lure with weight no problem. Trying this method wit a hook, nada. Like I have 2 thumbs. Gonna stick with San Diego Jam knot for Fluoro and hooks.

My problem is with the hooks I use that it is extremely difficult to get any doubled up line to pass through the eye of the hook. Any suggestions? Normally #4 or 6.
@wskerber Жыл бұрын
I get that sometimes when tying a palomar knot. Try running the line through the eye as a single line (side a to side b). Grab the line on side b but then push the tag end back through the eye again as a single line. That's the only way I do double line through a hook eye now days. I don't have the patients or eyes to try to push a loop through the eye. If the hook eye is just to small to have the line going through it twice, you'll have to go to a smaller diameter line or use a different knot.

So did u try to test both these know , which one is better

Great test on knots Mr. Grigsby but using weights besides hooks would be safer wouldn’t it. I would hate to see kids trying this and driving a hook in the palm of their hand. Thanks for the shared knowledge.

I've heard people say that you should never use a palomar knot with flourocarbon. Is this true? If so, why?

When you go to clinch the knot down a lot of times the flourocarbon line burns itself with the palomar knot. I use the double P as shaw shows here. Learned to tie it last year and tie it with all my lines, haven't broke the knot yet.

@@scottwhitefishing agree about burning the knot with the Palomar. Curled line after the knot tie was the tip-off for me that that line was getting burned. “Goobering” on it helps but these 2 knots are just as easy to learn and tie and are so much more reliable. Do you or anyone know if they are also good for braid? For me, the Palomar knot and San Diego jam knot works pretty well with braid. Also the modified uni knot is a GREAT knot, strong as hell; pretty easy to tie, especially if you already know the uni-to-uni mainline to braid knot.

@@DavidBronstein1961 The SDJ is a great knot for braid. These two are my go to knots for flourocarbon. They really go down well and I have never had them break at the knot. I have had the line break before the knot failed.
