What a great body! You could use that with a wing as well, which is what I often get from you. I can tie the pattern, but they often lend themselves to other things, other patterns and styles. This is a great fly, but I can add to it as well! Thank you as always Davie!

Thanks Davie, great tutorial! That dye job is fantastic, I could see the glint of red you used in the dye process. Peacock black is my favorite color in the synthetic materials also. Black hooks seem to be 'in' at the moment. I have thousands of Kamasan hooks that no one seems to want, now. I don't feel the hook colour is important, personally. Surely the fish can see it if it is either bronze or brown? Yet I have to admit that, to human eyes at least, black patterns look good on black hooks. This pattern is catching on fast at the moment, and it's easy to see why. Lovely tying Davie.

Hi Ryan, One of the best subs for JC is Goose biots which I have used on a few flies as well as the Diawl Bach.I would have to say that you don't need the wing buds as the original Diawl Bachs never had them though there's many patterns out there now that do and they have caught many fish so it's worth tying some with and some without and see what happens..Great questions.. Hi davie just to let you know I had great success with the col downmans diawl bach with both rainbows and brown's , this one looks just as good,do you think it would be worth running some uv resin along the back ? i will be trying it out soon ,thanks again and all the best.
