As a long truck driver myself he did a very good capturing the lifestyle of our lives I think and the struggle of trying to make it home for holidays. The amount of times I've missed important events or holidays while hammering down just trying to get home is crushing. Dropping a load and trying to get home 100% has happened to every driver only to not make it home or get there to late and everyone is gone and it's midnight and you are like FUCK I missed another birthday or Christmas god dam it. I didn't think anyone would write another great trucker song and I was proven wrong, this is one of the best trucker songs just cause it's so emotional and true.
