Omg I'm so sick of this, too! Anytime someone gives TP the slightest criticism, people go in for the kill. I'm like, yall would accept ish on a plate and say it's delicious if yalls favorite person made it! If TP didn't have a built-in fan base and wealth from his plays, he wouldn't have made it this far. I support him, but I refuse to ignore the mediocrity he continues to put out.

The lack of nuance is exactly why I dislike Tyler Perry scripts. It makes Meghan Good/Kelly Rowland look so stupid when their husbands are mean or dumb, broke, and have trash bedroom skills. No redeeming qualities, and you STILL get with him? The sad thing was this had the bones for a good movie. Dallas could have been a great character with a compelling backstory. Meghan could have been manipulative and controlling and he ended up being the one fed up with her manipulative ways for years.

I think of Perry as a modern day Dolomite. He's intentionally making content for our people that meets them where they are and doesn't make them change or adjust to enjoy it. It's not great writing, the jokes are usually just loud, and the story is always the same, but for some of my family members, that's exactly what they want. They don't want Christopher Nolan or Martin Scorsese, they want easy to understand, simple to get stuff. They like predictable twists and messiness. And while I cringe at it, when you realize that there's a legitimate point being made that everyone deserves to enjoy entertainment and they shouldn't have to change to do so, you get what the niche he's serving is. The frustrating part is knowing how much influence and power Perry has and to see that this is essentially all he wants to do. But that's been his niche for years. He wants to make content for working class Black folks that they don't have to think about or feel dumb watching. And he does that.

The audience who enjoyed this are not critical thinkers and it’s irritating and frustrating because real life actually requires the ability to critically think. No thought was needed to consume this.

Tyler Perry is able to pay actors the way he does because he doesn’t have to pay for writers, directors, and producers. Good writing and bad acting or bad writing and good acting (most times). Gotta choose. And HIS audience prefers the latter 🤷🏽‍♀️

The funeral scene is the only reason most people watched as it was all over TikTok. If that scene was just like a normal scene, it wouldn’t be talked about. That scene was specifically created to be entertaining. The rest of the movie was just normal Tyler Perry writing but the funeral was the only interesting scene imo. 🤷🏾

Super nice guy McGhee😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤ It was relatable though for women or men who endure abuse in relationships who need to understand its not okay. Her relationship with her parents reminded me of my own. It also showed that good girls that choose bad boys shouldn't and shouldn't try and change and help them. Its a common thing.

The Black entertainers ain't pro black as people may want or think of them to be. It's all a facade and they see regular black folks as below their level. They are not in alignment with the community. That's why you see the likes of srxy red n the gal with Mr carrot top wig being pushed to the frontline.
