RCR peaked with Dale Earhardt. Yeah Harvick kept them relevant but he was literally the only guy doing anything over there and you saw the down turn towards the last few years Harvick was there. There is a reason RCR hasn't won a championship since Dale Earhardt. Havick left and won a championship and RCR just kept going down. RCR needs to look at what made HMS so good and the top team in the sport if RCR is going to be around the next 10 years. Good move for Reddick, good pickup by 23XI, and a good thing for Nascar. It came to a huge cost to RCR though. They are in a very rough spot. Give props to Denny/MJ for plucking one of the most talented drivers in the sport. He is a legitimate championship talent, just behind Kyle Larson in terms of natural talent. If I were him I would try to go for Hendrick and Gibbs but honestly those seats are spoken for, HMS has all young drivers that are winners set up, with Gibbs bringing in Ty to replace Truex they are set, Penske seems set with their lineup, there just aren't top seats available (other option is Stewart Haas but they are off balance right now & and I question Ford's decision making on drivers). While 23XI is an upcoming team with tons of potential, connections, resources that RCR frankly does not have.

Got to look a bit into the future with this, remember we are talking about a season and a half from now. At this moment it appears to be a sideways move. Ask yourself at the start of the 2024 season which of these two teams is more likely to have grown more relative to the other. RCR isn't and hasn't been anything but a shell of itself for nearly 2 decades. I would full expect 23XI to continue to iron things out and hire better people that weren't available to them when they were first starting. Trendline RCR is flat, 23XI is trending up. This isn't a difficult decision. (Add into this the $$$ that was thrown his way.)

@@anubiam3004 I would disagree that 23XL is trending up. I’d say they’re flatlining and I think you can see that JGR even considers them their “minor league” cup team with the whole pit crew fiasco. So maybe there's more to this and a lot more players involved. What if JR Motorsports purchases RCR or forms a merger, this would give them the charters they need to start their Cup teams. This would leave a couple of Xfinity Series rides open at JR Motorsports due to a few drivers advancing to Cup. This is when we see Kelley Earnhardt make a huge play for Hailie Deegan either through contract buy out or Hailie's contract expires and she becomes a free agent and signs on with JR Motorsports. Something about Deegan driving in the Xfinity Series for JR Motorsports just seems right.

What a way to open today... 23XI is a definite upgrade. TRD and JGR are a dangerous duo, especially compared to RCR. My concern is who's staying. Kurt Busch is far and away the best...but him aging and that divorce is hard to work through. Bubba Wallace is still youngish and has room for improvement (not holding my breath) in addition to his monster sponsor coalition It comes down to whether Denny and MJ think building a winning culture is important or biting the bullet some more after a mediocre 2021 and an okay 2022 at the risk of losing some more prestiege (they were everywhere in 2021 and still get massive media this year).
