Hi Tyler, I doubt you’ll see this but I work at a rabbit sanctuary in the UK and I would like to stress that rabbits should ALWAYS be kept with at least one other rabbit for company. I’ve worked with hundreds of rescued rabbits and have seen rabbits who have been kept alone their whole life be bonded with another rabbit and you can see such an instant personality change once they have a companion. They get so lonely being on their own and the owner of the rabbit sanctuary will never have a rabbit on its own for more than a few days as they get so lonely. They really are such social animals and despite people saying if their owners spend enough time with them they don’t need a rabbit companion, this is very wrong rabbits need their own kind for company and they also should be able to have this company 24/7. I’m so glad that you finally got Desmond a friend - you mentioned that he doesn’t appear to be overly enthusiastic about being around other rabbits as he just sits there and doesn’t do a right lot, but this is just rabbit body language for him being content and relaxed with the bun. Not all bunnies are super active and playful and many just enjoy the company of sitting peacefully next to their companion for hours on end.

Some rabbits prefer to be alone. Ive tried bonding my flemish giant sherlock to 3 other rabbits but he prefers to be a single bun.

​@@chloedeel2477 only if they have some physical/mental conditions. Or if your provided space is too small for two to be comfortable to be together. Otherwise, rabbits don't like to be alone. It is normal for them to fight a few days when they first meet. Because they are territorial (that's why you need a neutral meeting area) and they have a strict hierarchy they need to "agree" on first. And not every rabbit want's to give up the dominant part just like that, so they fight for it. The fights look more brutal than they really are. As long as nobody gets bloody wounds, we humans need to sit it out and don't interfere (if you do, they get more pissed at each other or start all over again). After that phase they become close friends. It just takes a while. But of course not all rabbits like each other. Same with us humans, we also don't like every human we meet. Just try a different rabbit then. Here are some tips for good combinations: every bun needs to be neutered/spayed, male + female go best together, same sex can work out but not that often, try to find a submissive rabbit to your dominant one (and vice versa). And maybe try to find roughly the same age, or at least don't put an adult with a child. Becaus the little ones have thin skin that can get hurt easily during the fights.

@Josie Leigh if they just chase, bite and hump each other everything is normal. Flying fur is also normal, buns stress-shed a lot. Just wait till they settled their hirarchy. If they cause each other serious bloody wounds, better try another rabbit to yours. Bonding takes a bit of time. From 24h (mine were that quick) to weeks. Just don't interfere, if not necessary, as hard as it is.

Its heartbreaking that people think bunnies are “easy animals” to have. they are abandoned all the time. Thank you for bringing awareness and to bring more support to a great rabbit rescue. I have a 8 years old holland lop, and I can easily say that my cats and my dog (a retired racing greyhound) demand much less specific care than my rabbit. My rabbit got neutered when he was baby, needs to have his nails trim regularly, needs a VERY specific diet (otherwise he gets a poopy butt and I have to clean it for him), senior rabbitsare a lot of work, but I made a commitment to keep him until the end, the day I adopted him. I understand why bunnies are abandoned, I used to work in a petshop because I loved animals so much, and my boss would tell clients that bunnies would be great for their kids.... right. Might’ve lose my job over telling the opposite thing to clients, but it was the truth...excuse my bad english (im a french canadian 😅)

I had a little grey bun named Cadbury when I was a kid, unfortunately my mom didn't know how to take care of him and when i went to live with my dad for a winter i came back and he was gone.. i wish more people would do their research before getting rabbits for their kids cause if you get your child a pet it's your pet too! I'm glad you're doing your best to take care of all your pets and setting a good example for everyone who watches your content (this was back when everyone did not have a computer in their hands all the time so I had no idea what I was doing not to mention the fact that I was like 10)

I am so envious of how laid back your rabbits are with each other... I somehow managed to get the most stubborn and difficult pair of bunnies to bond with each other EVEN THOUGH THEY GOT ALONG PERFECTLY AT THE SHELTER. Ahhhh was so happy to see this video! You’re definitely one of my favourite KZbinrs and I’m a huge advocate for rabbits being social, so whenever I saw Desmond alone I of course thought he was in an amazing home but couldn’t stop myself from wondering if he wanted company. Olive is a twin for one of my rescue rabbits so Desmond may now have competition for my love but I’m glad he has a love ♥️

They look so happy together. Rabbit bonding for me was a nightmare! Eventually the male and female bonded, but it took several months and a few squirmishes that drew blood. Yes, they were both neutered and we went slowly, letting them live side by side for a month. Finally they duked it out and became sweethearts.

We adopted 4 bunnies once... one female was completely feral and HATED people. She was very afraid and would not hesitate to murder you if given the chance. We kept her in an outdoor enclosure along with a really sweet tame male as the mere sight of people stressed her out. They were super happy together. She would have been miserable without him I think.

We were hoping you would consider getting him a companion! 😍💙🐰🐰 We run a Rabbit Rescue centre and it's so important they are kept in pairs or groups, there are many professional bonders and some rabbit Behaviourists like myself to help people with bonding if they are struggling. I'm currently bonding a group of 36. It's great seeing the wonderful improvement in them once bonded. It's not always easy, if they are well matched (which a rescue can help with) then the bonding can be straightforward but rabbits with behavioural issues need to be worked with before bonding (these are more challenging cases people will need professional help with). Looking forward to seeing how they get on together :)

It looks like Olive has eyebrows xD I am glad you finally got a friend for Desmond. But I think your decision to wait until you got a bigger space was right. Tiny spaces with two buns in it most likely leads to aggression. These two look great together. They probably will take some time till they completely figured out who is the boss. So the occasional nipping and humping is normal, even if they already get along well. They are perfectly bonded when they eat together and clean each other (counts for bunny + human too. If they lick you, you are accepted in the bunny gang ;) )

Most likely a mixed breed. But her colors are sable maten. Sable being the base color with the points of light gray and darker gray. And the marten part being the white. She appears to be a commercial or semi arch.

I recently rescued 3 bunnies they are for sure a handful and I’m still learning it’s crazy to see how many people are rehoming bunnies I happen to get mine from a girl I use to work with possibly having to take them to the shelter because her sister had gotten 3 “female” bunnies and one happen to be a male and soon they had about 4 litters of bunnies 😞 I’m currently trying to find a place to spay/neuter bunnies but unfortunately it’s not very common around here
