Its crazy nowadays you can go into any gym as long as you pay and train/film. I remember when I got into BJJ coaches were like put your phone/camera in your bag and pay attention, and they never wanted you to crosstrain at other places. Barely ever see anyone in college wrestling rooms with cameras. But BJJ has def. Transgressed into the social world. Thanks for giving us a look into 10th planet!

Ah man, I can honstly say I'm so happy I'm in a smaller gym, we are around 10 guys total. All this sweat and this crowded would kill me. (although being in a bigger gym obviously has benefits because there is so many varieties in grapplers and their knowledge). But I'm 32 years old and doing it only for fun, so the small gym I'm in is perfect.

That was interesting, I hear 10th planet jiu jitsu is bloody weird. With their whole rubber guard an low percentage subs just for the sake of being different. How accurately would you say that is? Also, would love to hear you discuss the different types of BJJ out there and hear your opinion on the different schools etc.
@DrewDarce2 жыл бұрын
I'm a black belt that's been training since 2007 and used to hate on 10p until a few years ago, and now rep it unofficially. 10p is cool. You don't have to play rubber guard at 10p at all. It's just a cool no-gi association. They've come a long ways from being more of a fringe association to being a more mainstream organization. The irony to me is that most of the people that still hate on 10p would really love training at most 10p schools. I've trained at so many different schools and associations over the years, and 10p have been the kindest and most chill folks by far.
@marcus54352 жыл бұрын
I assume you are relatively new to the bjj scene, or have been it for a very long time, correct? While sure 10th planet have some questionable techniques, they have also totally revolutionised the no gi game. The buggy choke is a great and common example, as it shows people that even in ‘bad’ positions such as being in bottom side control, you can still go for subs. Same with their advancements on the leg locking game. Overall they have done so much good, that of course there will be a bit of bad mixed in.
@mishgrish34392 жыл бұрын
Having been to open mats at 10p Austin and 10p Denver, I’d say this is sort of a misconception. I rolled with almost 30 people between the two gyms and only had 2 people use rubber guard on me. The rest of what I saw was pretty common stuff if you train no-Gi.
@cdb08162 жыл бұрын
Been a member at several gyms. 10p is the best I’ve experienced. Surprisingly had the biggest emphasis on wrestling of any gym I’ve been to
