I could be wrong but I was surprised when I didn't hear anything about fishing in the wind. Even a moderate wind will cause a big bow in your line which will pull tour bait along with it. It might never hit the bottom. Using a weight is your only option in that case.
@TylersReelFishing2 жыл бұрын
That is true. But most of the time, in intense wind like that, I’m not throwing a Texas rig. The fish “should” be biting more reactionary lures if the bottom contours allow it.

Tyler, how does wind play in these concepts? Do you change your approach if wind is a factor? I struggle with picking the correct weight concept (weightless or weighted) when wind is in play. I want to get my lure in the strike zone but have found I either go too heavy and get all "mucked" up or too light and my lure ends up way out of the strike zone. Any thoughts?
@TylersReelFishing2 жыл бұрын
If it's windy, you of course have to add weight to your T Rig. Now how much is up to you, but with a hard whippy cast (that takes the right brake settings), you can fish in the wind with 1/8oz weight. But for the most part, if it is windy, I am either gonna throw a jig, or just go to reaction baits since the fish should be more active anyways.

I've always liked the Texas rig and is all I throw, I have plenty of other choices but I find myself going back to the Texas rig. I do have one question and I hope someone has an answer. The few months I've been really bass fishing I've been able to catch really nice big bass but unfortunately out of the 5 I have gotten I've gut hooked 3, luckily the bigger ones weren't gut hooked. I've been able to release them all back into the water but I want to know what I'm doing wrong to hook them like that. I know when fish take the line your suppose to set the hook and all that but it seems when I've caught my fish the line is always slack and I realize I have one on when the line gets heavy as I'm reeling in.

Hmm, I rarely throw a weightless t-rig simply because doing so breaks the #1 rule in fishing: COVER MORE WATER. Can't bomb cast without a weight and btw, long cast hook-sets/fish ons are by far the best! Weightless wacky sure. If you know fish are where you can cast a weightless t-rig to then fine but seriously, does anyone really ever know?
@TylersReelFishing2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can absolutely know. You might not know the first time you fish a body of water, but once you learn the seasons, and how they affect that specific body of water, you can pretty much guess where fish are going to be. And when they don’t bite something with a weight, sometimes it takes something without to get that bite
