Ha guys, you made my day showing the wholesale automatics lock up kit install. Couldn't you have just accessed the auto temp through the ultimate nine heads up display though, save installing analogue gauge to dash mat (bit of butcherous work that burro), christ that's gonna drive Gary nuts over corrugations on development track, flappy and bouncing around. If you keep it you'll need a bracket formed up from "A" pillar to retain it. What also has me ticked off with Patrols, 🤔 they stopped installing that front of condenser core cooling fan, add it to your spare parts stack, then forward it to me 😁. Love your work for Dad, great efforts young fella.

Hey Tyler and Demi hope you and the family are well ! Great job on the old man’s rig and very good spares kit can’t fault it except….. coming from a long time ZD owner here - your old man must carry a Belt tensioner assembly with pulley (genuine only) it will at some point fail, the hydraulic arm and bushes flog out in them over time and let go when you least suspect.
@ianweal30814 ай бұрын
Exactly, but carry a T50 torx socket to access it. Luckily I've only ever had to replace the hydraulic tensioner, the assembly last okay, or thus far, touch wood but each time I've replaced the hydraulic tensioner I've removed the belt roller, removed seal over its bearing, washed with degreaser, lubed with oil, then smear of grease prior to clipping seal on and reassembly. Our original hydraulic only lasted 40K, replaced with genuine ($360 ouch) and it lasted less, holycrap. As they're so expensive I elected to trial patrolaparts unit ($70), 8K only before the internal piston ceased creating belt slip. I then took the bushes from patrolaparts unit (harder black plastic), replaced the Nissan ones (soft white plastic) in the original unit and it's back in there operating fine. The Nissan Bushes are the let down, see how the patrolaparts bushes last now. Yes, to their credit patrolapart offered me a credit or replacement. I accepted replacement and carry it as my spare. I do also carry a genuine, can't be too overconfident ha!!!

Hey Tyler I’m a ZD30 enthusiast love what your doing with your old man’s rig A quick question the engine with it’s factory exhaust ( dual catalytic converters ) heat up twice as fast increasing the chances of cracking your heads which I’ve already experienced In the build videos I didn’t see any egt or water temp gauges and 3” exhaust being installed For peace of mind to protect your motor I would recommend doing them I’d hate for something to go wrong on one of your trips Love your content especially when you’re hooking up with some of the other creators which is priceless and your banter with burto a crack up Always looking forward to your next posts

Holy dooley, Tyler on the tools 🤣 Rig looks sick, good work boys, never ends though, got get off those Mushroom bushing radius arms at some stage, they will probably be gone after York, esp since the lift. that new Drag link looks super sexy as well. 🤘 Just a tip for anyone hard wheeling if ya still running offset bushings in ya Radius arms keep an eye on them for wear front and back, they roach out pretty quick in my experience once lifted 2" and above and on big wheels. Check before replacing anything else, suspension or steering wise! I have had warrants and wheel alignment guys miss this and its not hard to check or expensive to replace! easier if you have a bearing press however esp for the front bushings!

5 speed Manual Lockup every gear😅
@einfelder82624 ай бұрын
It's a 4 speed, reverse doesn't count :)
@ianweal30814 ай бұрын
Unfortunately ZD30's don't have great engine braking nor is low gear in the RE4 auto that low, so even locked up it will be too quick on descents I think. Early in ownership I queried Wholesale Automatics regarding a conversation from RE4 to a RE5 as it has very low 1st & reverse but they hadn't done that conversation and quoted me a figure to take it off my wish list. Bugga
@einfelder82624 ай бұрын
@@ianweal3081 I've done some very steep descents in my ZD30 CRD auto. 33" rubber on standard diff ratios makes things a bit worse, but I just use the handbrake to help out. I have a Wholesale Autos valve body which gives engine braking in 1st. Vastly important, too, is to throw out the standard brakes and fit some Brembo rotors, high temp pads, braided brake hoses, and at least DOT4 brake fluid. The brakes don't fade and become totally useless, which I experienced early on with the Patrol.
@ianweal30814 ай бұрын
@@einfelder8262 yeah, we've done some steep shit too, but a lower 1st for descents would help significantly with engine braking. A ratio similar to a manual would be good. In regards to Engine Braking, ours wasn't bad, but far from good, then I had a tune done, well bugga me, one of the benefits was far better engine braking which astonished me. When I queried the company who did the tune they hadn't heard this from others, but just worked on presumption that my boost rolled on sooner at far greater PSI, hence more compression. Nothing else makes sense. I used to utilise the handbrake in our previous vehicle that activated the inner drum shoes on the disc rotors, worked well, but with the Patrol's tailshaft hand brake, been reluctant to utilise it on descents. Upgraded to DBA rotors all round and better pads early on as we carry a full GVM upgraded load constantly. Brake lines one day, currently stops well.
@einfelder82624 ай бұрын
@@ianweal3081 I don't have reduction gears but they would be the best answer. 43% for the Auto. Expensive though. The tailshaft handbrake works very well - better than rear handbrake, because it stops all 4 wheels.
