They can't be felt when they land but can be whacked when they land, they are pretty dumb flies. I have never seen that many March flies!

As I was viewing this and prior to reading Hazardbone's comment "Your son has the best upbringing", was thinking what a different aspect Malakai has from today's generation. Most young people have their eyes glued to a screen of some sort 24/7. I reckon that he will have a head start on his competition by virtue of a broader life experience. Just the simple act of jumping on the slippery snow will benefit his motor skills and "hands on" feel. I am really grateful of the out of door experiences gleaned in my youth and think it was a huge leg up in life. Oh, and the first song was a remake from my generation, so yes I'm a bit long in the tooth, but you are only as old as the 4x4 you drive. lol PS did this trip and heaps more January 2018 and the Davies High Planes road was closed then, due to a landslide I believe. Shame it's not repaired.

Thanks so much mate, appreciate the feedback :). We are very lucky we are able to get out 4wding and camping as much as we do! Im sure Malakai will have lots of great memories from the trips when he's older. Hopefully they open up the Davies High Plane track again. We are heading down the High Country again this January, can't wait!

I take an instant up screen room with me when I'm down that way, it makes life bearable when those March flies come calling.

Hehe, you must have been there just after Christmas. The March flies are bad that time of year but also seem to be particularly bad in that spot for some reason.

Yep, I have had them like that in my car. The I only respite is to get in the car, river or when it gets dark. They are fuckers and will eat you alive!

Tyler Thompson wish my kids liked camping but there just not into it I was brought up camping and i loved it I kitted my 4by out and got a camp trailer and everything for the kids but they hate it it's a shame

Yeah its hard mate when you don't have smilier interests. I was brought up camping too but only really got back into when I got into proper 4wding. Hopefully Malakai likes camping for a while yet!
