Knowing Tyler. Likelihood is, if he tried building himself a work bench, he would probably be missing a finger or two by end of video. He doesn’t seem all that competent when it comes to power tools. Just look what he did to the oscillating saw blades. You don’t put that much pressure when cutting unless ya want to damage the blade. Pluse, dude tried cutting hardened fasteners with it. Generally there are two types of fasteners out there. Hardened and standard.

I bought my Matrix June 22, 2017 according to my Amazon account. I've used it heavily, 90% of the time with the impact attachment, and it still works as well as it did when I bought it. I still use it almost daily working on motorcycles. It's easily been the highest performance per dollar tool I've ever bought. I also have the air pump attachment that works in a pinch.

I'm a woodworker who's heavily invested in Milwaukee M18/M12 tools. I have Milwaukee batteries that were considerably more expensive, for just a single battery, than the B&D kit reviewed in this video. I also have a well-equipped shop and the room to store all of these tools, batteries, chargers, and accessories. This B&D setup isn't going to make me abandon my Milwaukee tools. But, this kit isn't made for me. I think that this would be PERFECT for an apartment-dweller, college kid, retiree, or any other person who doesn't have a lot of space to store tools, doesn't have a lot of money to spend on tools, and/or wants a decent variety of tools so they can tackle the needs a homeowner or renter occasionally encounters. I wasn't expecting much, to be honest, but I can remember a time in my younger days where this would have been VERY useful to own.

I've had a Matrix setup for a LONG time, in it's original Craftsman form (Bolt-On is what they called it). I've got a bunch of the attachments also. The drill chuck WILL end up going bad on you. I'm on my 3rd, but bare in mind that I've had it for probably 8 or 9 years). I find I use the drill and the 4.5" circular saw the most. It's not a perfect setup, but the Craftsman Bolt-on accessories are interchangable with the Matrix stuff, and vice-versa.

I have had the original Black and Decker Matrix for about 5 years now. I have the drill, impact, reciprocating saw, and the air pump attachments. I love it! It is not for the everyday mechanic but it is perfect for at home use. Obviously the impact isn't for high torque applications but it works excellent in low torque applications. I find it to be a great tool.

I purchased the drill first and then all of the attachments over two years ago. Not as my main “go-to” cordless drill but as a take anywhere kit, and to that end it is brilliant. I use the circular saw attachment all the time for small jobs. I have lots of AEG (Ridgid), Ryobi and Makita tools, but this kit lives in my truck for emergency use and it rocks.

Tyler!!! The reason why the impact driver head smells like grease is because the grease keeps it from over heating, it lubricates the gears inside. It's like that with all impact guns. I'm a mechanic so just some tool advice! Great video though 👌. Also routers are to make nice edges on wood not to cut straight through a piece. Thanks, Robert Aime

I bought this with the extra optional add-on tool accessories - a circular saw and a car tire inflation tool attachment. Everything works but it’s for light duty jobs. Not a ton of power. For a home odd-job fixer upper kinda person it’s a great affordable tool that gets the job done. Not recommended for professional work - not enough power. I never tried a bigger batteries with more amp hours so I don’t know if it could also have more torque power with say a 4 or 5 amp hour battery.

people normally clamp a straight edge as a guide when they want to make a straight cut with the router and it normally takes a few passes to make a groove that deep, trying to do it in one go will ruin whatever you're trying to do.. overall i think this system is good for light duty DIY repairs or builds, definitely not something you would bring to a construction site, so i do agree with your assessment, sometimes i wish i had a certain tool to make some repairs, but i definitely don't want to spend 100-200 JUST for that tool alone... so for me personally, i could see myself buying this kit.

Yep, and it uses the same battery as the drill. I have several items from their "set" since they all use the same batteries. The weed wacker was the first I'd bought, then a tool set with a trim saw, jigsaw, light, sander, and drill, then the Matrix drill, leaf blower, and pole saw, then their chain saw. They all came with batteries, so I also have 10 batteries, and rarely ever have to stop working around the house. I wouldn't use them for professional purposes, but they are definitely worth it for a homeowner doing some DIY.

I have had the Matrix for years now and really can't complain much. I didn't see what all you had for attachments or what was available, but when it first came out you could also buy the radial saw attachment, the air compressor as well as a few that I see you have. As all small air compressors go, it definitely got hot filling a tire, but it could still get enough in to get you back on the road. It was the only one I wasn't a fan of. The Matrix is absolutely a good introductory tool for beginners. Not for the everyday Joe using it for a job. I say B&D hit a home run with the tool, but went a bit cheap with the tool accessories (the blades, drill bits and such). So it goes back to the "kissing cousins". Sure it was a kiss, but it was with your cousin....
@silentferret1049
@silentferret1049 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the air tool is meant for small tires and it would get hot no matter the brand. Compressing the air is what generates all that heat. Volume of air being compressed is its limiting factor which is to be expected for its size and intended use.

i have thos setup, w 12 attachments,, and while i wont use it on the job,, its perfect for keeping in the trunk for emergencies, or just as a house tool,,, like I actually gave it to my sister to keep at her house for any lil chores or whatevs she needs to do.. but yeah I 100% agree w you on the B&D being straight trash,(which is odd considering the other tool companies they own lol),, but yeah this is actually a nifty, n somewhat sturdy lil tool for anyone who is just starting out, or tool-naive .. its actually not a bad tool, if they made a brushless version of the drill handle,, then this would be a an actual consideration just for its compact-ness lol. abd by the way you mentioned you liked this idea,, look up Craftsman Bolt-On,, its what this wS based off of, and those attachments work w this one as well if you can find em.. they have aalot of diff attachments to add, from a tire air pump, to metal shears lol

With the jigsaw.. the height from base to trigger isn't giving you the chance to push forward. You're actually putting more downforce into the wood instead of helping to push forward....you should try again but use both hands, one to pull the trigger and one to push forward....also try a harder or more seasoned wood for the router....but really the drill isnt pushing enough rpm compared to actual routers...gets the job done in a pinch

Black and Decker used to be a great brand in the UK at one time. Their man products were excellent quality drills, workbenches and circular saws and they all lasted for ages. I see many people make the mistake trying to cut off wood screws. They're almost as hard as your blade. In this case you should use an angle grinder. Don't saw off screws ever! And I don't think it's a good deal. The motor overheats and dies, you lose all your tools at once. You're not impressed with the blade quality? You can expect the whole kit made of that quality.😂 I have many tools, that however use only one battery. That's a good deal. Yea it's more expensive especially brand tools. But I don't have to worry about them. I know they perform as they should. And they do. I say wait longer and get proper tools then start your project.

Man if this was done by Milwaukee with more powerful attachments and higher quality materials it would probably be a best seller. I can’t stand how big my tool box is just because of the space that all the handles take up, plus the handles make repacking into a game of Tetris. I’d be able to put my circular saw into my main tool box instead of needing to just toss it in the back of my car. This system would reduce my tool box to a quarter of its current size and I’d have all the same tools. Plus the weight reduction means I can carry around an additional battery or 2 and be at the same weight.

Seems decent to me. Like you said probably like homeowner for a small project here and there but definitely not an everyday use tool. I am curious if one of the attachments breaks if you can just buy like a “replacement head” or would it be easier just buying a new kit

Yeah I have used most these like an everyday tool. You can get the individual attachments, they are about 20 to 30 each. Had my set for over 10 years and put them through hell. Cooked a impact driver trying to drill 3/4 inch holes with one of the step impact bits but that was in 1/4 plate and that was after doing 12 other holes like it and hundreds of 1/2 inch holes in the same plate thickness. Thats well outside the use of most impact drivers that's dedicatedly built.

I do agree that the quality of Black and Decker is poor however someone where price is key such as someone just starting out it can be attractive as they are cheaper than most of other brands. When I started out that was what I bought and then upgraded to other brands as money allowed. I will admit I would have loved some of the premium brands at the time so bought what I could afford.

My question is did you charge the battery fully when you took it out or did you start using it right out the box?

You need a stable work bench. Simple wooden work bench thats not to big and heavy so you can move it and also compensate for the amount of room you have to work with. Please keep posting videos though your my favorite youtuber by far and im 24 lol.

Tbh I'm not so sure.I personaly would rather buy 2 dedicatet higher quality tools for that price. And then, when the time comes buy that one tool which you need. Sure, this will cost 50% more in the end, but you get tools, which last and don't crapt out halfway through.
