Just to clarify: What you actually want for a dry room is pumping in cold air that can heat up to suck up a lot of moisture, since warm air can store a lot more moisture than cold air. And then you want the warm, moist air out and ideally be replaced with cold air. Hence the best is to ventilate during the morning and then during the evening again. Thats what a dehumidifier does or why air conditioned air is dry and your air conditioner has condensation water drop down/has a pump for condensation water. What you did there Tyler by only letting in warm air during the day is the following: You pump in warm moist air during the day which then can not escape during the night. When it cools down outside the air temperature inside will also go down and making the air loose its ability to store some of the moisture in it which will then condensate on the cold walls of the garage. Of course a rainy night will throw that equation out of balance and you don't want the fan running during that. In my opinion: get a moisture sensor and have the fan running during dry cold nights, especially in the morning hours. Thats when the air is the coldest and the most driest (thats why you get dew only during the morning hours - the air can't store that moisture anymore and gives it to the surroundings) Source: i'm German. We invented ventilation of rooms, that's why we have these complicated windows.

Was just about to say the same thing. I am still surprised how many people don't know what humidity actually is. But I guess that it just depends on where you live and how much you have to deal with humidity problems.
@johnathon007
@johnathon007 2 ай бұрын
This may be the case in Germany but in much of the US the night is far more humid than the day. It can be 40% humidity during the day and 90% at night.

Hoisting a square sail! That’s what came to mind watching you manhandle that door! Instead, try to rig a line to, or in place of the straps. Run it through a pulley at the top and then down to the ground or somewhere to tie it. As you pull on the line, it will automatically ROLL UP the door, like the square sail on an old ship. I actually did this to the window drapes in a nautical themed bedroom. Works great.

Relative Humidity is about the same day and night throughout a season. The difference is the temperature, which affects the amount of moisture air can hold. Cold air holds much less moisture than warm air, that is why dew forms overnight. The warm air absorbs moisture during the day, and as it cools overnight, it still holds that moisture until reaching a temperature where it starts to release that moisture which collects and eventually becomes dew, fog or cloud, and when the saturation point is reached, rain. Yes, rain is the same principle. Warm moisture air at the surface rises via updraft into the much cooler air, as it cools it forms into clouds, eventually rain as it reaches saturation point.

**USEFUL TIP: Get a piece of ½ PVC Pipe, Cut it to length, tape seal the ends of the PVC Pipe, and Tape it to the bottom of the door.** I did this to my Metal Framed Tarp Garage and it works awesome! It makes it way easier to roll up the door. I was lucky enough that I could just insert the PVC pipe into the bottom seem of the door. Also doubles as a support structure and weight for the door to make it move less and be more structurly sound.

Anything plugged in draws power, no matter how little. That wifi plug draws WAY less power than that fan does. He's saving a good chunk of power for the many hours the fan is off. Greatly offsets the extra power used by the plug *while* the fan is on

Regardless of if the fan is running on now, moisture and metal make rust. Why not just paint it and prevent it period instead of talking about a solve that's irrelevant? I agree with other people on being scared of the fact you were considered any kind of mechanic. Personally I'm not a mechanic but I know how to prevent rust and you're literally still leaving the metal out in the rain/humidity etc and considering that little cover it velcros into isn't going to protect much maybe put some oil on it or something at least I mean do something that actually prevents the rust. And considering your chubby ass could sit on the side of it and it not cave, maybe add a little weight to prevent the wind issue? Id personally just throw Paracord around and stake it into the ground. But these are just things I thought would be common sense

For a given mass, warm air takes up a larger volume than cold air. So if you fill a plastic bottle with cold air and quickly cap it, and warm it up, it will then we at a higher pressure in the bottle than before. Or if you have warm air in the bottle, cap it and then cool it the bottle will collapse. Same thing he is describing. His fear is that the volume can only be so large, and he's worried that the heated air expanding will increase pressure beyond what the tubes can take.
