I have to laugh out loud when I hear any sugggestion that the U.S. military cannot distinguish between planes, birds, unidentifieds, etc., as if their understanding of radar technology is in its infancy, as if these videos plead “YOU decide.” Not only is radar well understood by the military, why would the military ever admit it didn’t know what was going on unless it had to? Or to even suggest it was puzzled by its radar returns. To me that defies logic. That being said, the evidence produced so far is not compelling or useful from a scientific analysis point of view. Furthermore, this is an old phenomenon not a new one. This is just the tip of the iceberg, as the observables in 2021 are similar if not the same as ones in 1947. Charlie, we need to factor in a few key factors here before jumping to wild conclusions and 'laughing aloud'. @Apstore Login Life started off as blank automatons Seems a bit silly to state that there’s no reason for us not to be blank, when life evolved specifically away from that to escape predators that found utility in having higher cognitive function Also, you’re assuming some inherent difference between non-living and living matter. This is an incredibly common flaw in reasoning but is also very difficult to avoid because we’re looking out from within. But as far as the rules of Reality go, there’s no actual distinction between ourselves, and a rock We’re effectively just a more complex rock, if you understand the analogy that I’m drawing here As far as consciousness goes, add variables to a network and the network becomes more complex. Emergence is an inherent property seen at every single level of Reality so no reason to expect it not to at what we think is its highest level (consciousness). But to be clear: There are blatant evolutionary advantages to not being “blank”. To clarify further however: As far as the body is concerned, we *are* blank. Free will is an elaborate illusion designed to encourage us to behave in a specific, usually beneficial-to-self way. And without it, perhaps the automaton wouldn’t be as motivated to interact with others, or run spur of the moment when a bush rustles That’s my take

@@ripdib maybe try being more conducive to conversation, rather than patronizing and aggressive. And if still you insist, then at least be correct. "No one here besides the two guys talking in the podcast have the knowledge to go against what they are saying." That's about the most anti-scientific thing there is. ANYONE can offer a different view, bearing in mind that they must follow a proven criteria, and may be completely out of their depth, but saying they *can't* will only stop the conversation. And if you just wanna be the last person talking then you're not really here to learn anything. Like I disagree with a lot of what Adam Frank has to say about principals of searching while not knowing. He's trying to explore what we don't know through the lenses of only what we know with complete certainty, and that certainty he's chosen to use is that WE DON'T KNOW. It puts a false confidence in what does or does not qualify as 'good speculation'. And some of what Dr. Frank dismisses as not good enough to speculate on seems more like a handwave to things he just didn't think to consider. His opinion piece and whole stance toward UAPs seems to put extra effort into being smug. Phrases like " UFOs don't *impress me* " and " UFOs and ghost stories are spooky " just seem like focus toward belittlement, which is not what you emphasize in a scientific discussion. Also, he has an incorrect view that - if UAPs are an alien entity - they are trying to stay hidden but failing. The reality is that there is not a single scrap of anything to indicate what kind of intentions these UAPs would possibly have. ALL we know from any report (that still defies explanation) is that they move fast. Something that moves fast at all times; doesn't care about concealing itself, and doesn't need long to do whatever it does while slowed down, would indeed be very elusive. We don't conceal ourselves when researching the Sentinelese from airplanes and helicopters, because we know the outside world of ships and airplanes is already visible to them. But we also don't stick around longer than we need to, and we don't try making contact. precedent exists for us to assume others might do the same. There are other things that Dr. Frank says which I disagree with, but I'm not going to spend my whole day typing this out.

Fantastic conversation, JMG! Thanks a lot! 😃 I totally agree with both of you. Stories are REALLY fun to listen or read about and so on... But that's it. During the time I helped an ufology group here in Brazil we used to do picture analysis. You know? BTW, my own interest started because I found a big and dark spot in a picture I took and was using as a model for painting classes... Which ended to be a bird! 😂 Anyway, we ALWAYS can learn something studying any subject! Maybe there's some kind of atmospheric phenomenon we don't know about. Who knows? Maybe something like that could explain the "official UFO night" here from Brazil... That event was a huge collection of spots of light in the skies, many people spotted them, including airlines pilots... And military pilots. The government of the time called the media and told everything. You know? Anyway... Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

I love this guy’s take on the UFO incidents. Treat ufo sightings with as much rigor as it would take to prove the existence of microbial life on another planet. Personal testimony isn’t enough. I hope SETI focuses on collecting UFO data so these sightings can become scientific instead of speculative.

Event Horizon - at 25:55 Dr. Frank asks "How do you slow down?" Four decades ago The St. Louis Space Frontier (then a chapter of the L5 Society, now the National Space Society) hosted a Spaceweek event. One of the presenters was Dr. Robert L. Forward. He talked about his Starwisp proposal which was to use beamed microwaves rather than lasers like the Starshot Project. First, the fleet of probes was to be accelerated; second, the beams were to provide power for the fleet of congregate and build a single probe and a reflecting mirror; and third, a final blast of beams was to accelerate the reflector and decelerate the probe. The probe would then maneuver within that exo-solar system and rendezvous with an asteroid and build a base to decelerate the next series of probes. Something like tat cold spread our civilization throughout the galaxy in a geologically short period of time, say one hundred million years. Please pass this on to Dr. Frank.

Explain how a light can come up on radar And a light can show up in the sky when there's no clouds or medium to collect on
@mal2ksc3 жыл бұрын
If light (including radio waves -- look up "microwave plasma") is focused on a point, you can heat the air into incandescent plasma. Similar to the ion trail of a meteor, it _will_ light up, it often shows up on radar, and it can "maneuver" at whatever rate the light concentrating device decides to pan. If the focus is tight enough, this only requires on the order of 1000 watts, which is paltry when it comes to beam weapon power.
@JulioRad9543 жыл бұрын
@@mal2ksc That does not explain the multiple pilot sightings and structures seen emerging in and out of the ocean and said structures interacting with the water's surface. Also don't you think a pilot would witness/track the source of a laser system designed to create the plasma decoy. Source needs to be relatively close as atmospheric diffraction and limitations of lasers require LOS to achieve a plasma decoy system such as those being worked on to spoof missiles.

Now that's more like it. This guy is a lot closer to the facts. Here is my two cents on this topic: It's very likely that there are no aliens comparable in size to us anywhere near us. Maybe the closest biological life forms could be more than 10 billions years far or maybe even quadrillions of years far(I am talking about far out of the visible universe). Now here is an idea. What if you are not looking at the correct size? What if the aliens that you are looking for are actually inside you and they were inside all of us all along? I mean think about it for a second. What is known at the moment to be able to travel between galaxies? Electrons, photons, neutrinos and other particles like these that are able to travel extremely large distances without being disintegrated. What if the aliens are in fact these atomic and subatomic particles? What if their mode of travel(their ships) are in fact the stars that act like pit stops? So basically these particles could literally be the ones that do hitch hiking between the stars waiting millions or billions of years at a time for the opportunity to move further with each hop. I know it sounds crazy but think about it. What is our brain made of? Matter witch is made of subatomic particles. The brain acts as a vehicle for something. What is that something? What does consciousness need in order to be active? ELECTRONS. Why on earth would consciousness need electrons in order to manifest? Could it be that they are the first and most basic unit of consciousness/awareness/intelligence and no one realized it yet? I have a feeling that this is indeed the case.

For someone that has taken the time to commit due diligence into looking into these sightings and have read the report it’s frustrating to hear someone talk as if they’ve only barely scratched the surface of looking into it. They DID do things we are incapable of with physics and they were detected on multiple mediums on aircraft carrier/ F-18 hornets to distinguish and confirm the fact that the objects detected had mass - they were not light. The list goes on of things that it just doesn’t sound like he is informed on. This is my favorite subject so I encourage the dialogue but respectfully disagree with your guest. I think we are coming to a cultural crossroads where the “skeptics” of these UAP/UFO’s sound like a ideological echo chamber of ignorance in an almost religious way
