great video explaining how the different types of industrial loom internal works go. But the one last thing i need to kind of understand is the internal works that allow one to change colors and to do rows with multiple colors. Seems as all these types do same color whole lines. Obviously improving speed of what handcrafters can do but wondering how they make the machines to do many colors and designs that a handcrafter can do.

In order to insert multiple colours, you need to have multiple weft feeders. A design with 8 different colours would require 8 feeders using a creel to hold 8 packages of weft. On a rapier loom, you would need 8 weft presenters, one for each colour. Air jets are limited to 4 colours, due to the difficulties of lining up the main nozzles with the channel in the reed. There isn't enough room! Water jets use just one colour. I hope this is helpful!

Was looking for rapier explanation for ages. Shuttle makes a continuous weft going in (it goes forward and then back). Does it mean that rapier only puts in cuts of weft? They are not continuous? Does it affect fabric quality? I.e. does it not go loose on the edges?
