The weighing thing made me laugh. I once went on a course and the lady teaching it was horrified that I don't weigh feed and tried to show me up. She took a scoop of nuts and asked me how much it weighed. Without hesitating I told her and you should have seen her face when I was right. She didn't know that my Saturday job was behind a deli counter and I was an expert at judging the weight of stuff so I could cut the right amount of cheese or whatever off the block! In the end I was too good at it and my boss used to walk behind me and whisper "make it over" so he'd make more profit. 😁.

@@kath5201 Ha ha. Well I'm not saying they all do that! My boss had the nickname among regular customers of 'Arkwright' after the stingy shopkeeper in Open All Hours as he was well known for his penny pinching. The fact that he was Indian didn't stop the name sticking LOL. He was great otherwise though; a good sport and kindhearted. I liked working for him.

My 46yo got fed once a day. Almost 24# at a time. It took him around 18-22 HOURS to eat it all. (No teeth, it all came out of a bag!) Vet asked one time if it would help to feed him 2x a day!! He'd eat a little, graze, eat a little, take a nap, eat a little....

I'm the hay and grass diet type of person😂 to my defense: my horses are both easy keepers that get fat from just looking at food and they aren't in work at the moment. And they do get supplements as needed.
@lanakranz92273 жыл бұрын
Dont worry so are mine. Healthy too. It depends what types you feed them and how much work they are in. Mine get obese and founder when given grain or pellets. Hay and pasture only is genuinely the best they have ever looked.
@annaf.27793 жыл бұрын
@@lanakranz9227 If they thrive on hay and pasture that's the best option for our horses! Some need extra grain or pellets to keep their weight on, sometimes they need supplements, some have allergies, some can't eat fresh grass... every horse is different! I think it's our job as horse keepers to find out what's best for each individual animal.

And of course the monthly dose of silicon **shit how do you spell it??** Anyhow bran three day series with that once a month. Please remind me the name someone. And a few doses of Epsom salts every day on a ride in the summer. Then feet always, picking your horses hooves out is one of the most important things and getting them trimmed on time.
