Interesting video! I have been binge-watching videos on the H for a few days, as I am very interested in getting my grubby hands on one, but almost every video out there is at least a year old. This is the first one I have seen which is 'current', so it is good to know that the machines are still out there and have not faded away...
@CAPTAINDRONE7987 жыл бұрын
The Typhoon H is still a relevant drone. You don't see massive amounts of new videos about it because Yuneec has not launched anything new for it in many months.

Another great video captain. I might just invest in the powerextra battery. You may recall that I had a problem with my CGO3+ on my H. Thanks so much for all your help and advice with this matter. In the end, I replaced it, and now it's performing perfectly. It's really great to have the H back in the air doing what it does best. Also I was pleasantly surprised when DJI put out their latest firmware update which gave my phantom 4 a new lease of life. Until then I was under the impression that the p4 was left unsupported. Maybe a good topic for a video? Please keep the great and informative video's coming. Regards Carey down under here in New Zealand.

Hi Carey, glad to hear your H is working as it should... and probably even better than ever with a new camera. I had not seen the update for the Phantom 4. I believe DJI has a track record of providing support to a discontinued product for up to 1 year. That pretty much was the case with my Phantom 2 Vision Plus.

Thanks for doing the tests. Interesting results as there are those who say that the Yuneec battery is a 6300 inside and wrongly labelled!
@CAPTAINDRONE7987 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I had heard the same thing. If it is true than Yuneec is doing false advertizing and selling themselves short. And why would they be the only ones to do this? In my experience of flying FPV RACE QUADS the battery is everything. Every manufacturer is competing with each other to produce the perfect battery so they come in all sizes and capacities. The last thing a manufacturer would do is sell themselves short because everyone wants the best (most power, longest flight time, least weight, etc). It is as if Yuneec is making a camera that is 4K but writing 1080p on the package.... People would rather buy the 4K one. Normally, drone manufactures tell mistruths about how well their drone works and not how poorly it works. There will always be strange tales on the internet, some could be true and others just created by people with wild imaginations who spend too much time in their room. I can't confirm or deny, but since I'm a logical person I would be in the camp that the information you heard was false.

My guess is that the Powerextra battery has a lower "C" rating than the stock battery. That's pretty typical when the weight stays the same.
@OnceShy_TwiceBitten5 жыл бұрын
while technically true, the C rating may be lower. the higher the capacity the greater the Current it can deliver. so a 20C rated 5000mAh (100amps) batt can dliver more current than a 20C 4000mah (80amps) batt. or even a 100C 500mah batt (50 amp)

Good battery side by side tests... A question... If you had to do it all over again and could only get one... Would you get the Typhoon H or the Phantom 4 Pro ???
@CAPTAINDRONE7987 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I much prefer the smaller size drones now. I find the Inspire, Typhoon H and Phantoms to be too large for my needs. I do fly them, but less often than the smaller drones. The Phantom 4 Pro has much more technology in it than the Typhoon H and the Phantom series has been around for 4 generations so it is extremely refined. The Typhoon H is a first generation, there is no Typhoon H II as of yet. If a Typhoon H II came on the market, it would as well be much more refined.

Alright so I am at a little bit of a dilemma. I have the typhoon H and looking for a small compact travel drone.( Spark or Mavic) I have a mac that can edit in 4K but I feel that KZbin and pictures, are all recorded in 1080, also the spark now can shoot pictures in 4K. So could I just get the spark and do some editing and make the video look good enough. Or is it just worth to get mavic altogether

Remember that pictures in 4K are no big deal, it's when a video is in 4K that it is a big deal. If you had the funds for either, and based on what you own for editing, go for the Mavic Pro.

There is certainly something loose in either the arm or the Typhoon. The arm locks into place with a simple metal thin clip. Inside the Typhoon H is a gold coloured piece of metal that the clip makes contact with. One of these is not secure.

Is there any way to test that the capacity is truly what it advertises on the battery? Other than the voltage...⚡ I'd also be interested in the battery life comparison since one has higher voltage than the other I would think the one with the higher voltage would burn out/fry up quicker over time. @CAPTAINDRONE7987 жыл бұрын
The Typhoon H battery came from another Typhoon H owner who was selling off batteries due to a crashed Typhoon H. He said the battery was purchased just over a month ago. It certainly looks newer than my Typhoon H batteries. I've done 5 cycles on it and the previous owner said he may have done 3. The Powerextra had 5 cycles on it total.

Thanks for the reply. I'll certainly keep an eye on the Powerextra batteries and if they hold up, then it may be worth getting a few of them to add to my collection.

Doesn't putting that much stress on the H with the repeated up and down full throttle test put a lot of stress on the ESC's and therefore have a potential to cause them to fail sooner? I appreciate your test but I'm just cautious about how much the ESC's can handle. In the same manner, aren't the ESC's rated for a specific C rating? I am concerned that the higher C rating from the Powerextra may actually cause the ESC's to fail sooner. Thanks for doing these tests!
@CAPTAINDRONE7987 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm not really a battery expert. My knowledge of battery requirements comes from race quads where battery capacity, weight, constant C and max C ratings are a necessary knowledge. So when I see a C rating I think of what the constant flow rate of power is. My guess is that the Typhoon would have ESCs that can handle power bursts because the ESCs are designed to handle more current than the motor. In race quads C ratings you always want to have a battery with a higher C rating than the ESCs.
@Canyon767 жыл бұрын
CAPTAIN DRONE Interesting. I'm not yet into racing although I'm looking into where to start (currently looking at the Vusion or the Connection Falcore) so I appreciate your insight. I'm also just restating what I have been told or read as I am still learning and while I understand the batteries I'm still learning and I know very little regarding the ESCs etc. Thanks again for your videos!
@CAPTAINDRONE7987 жыл бұрын
I am familiar with the VUSION and the FALCORE but have not personally tried either. Both are entry level drones which are great for beginners to get you into the sport quickly and easily. If you then love the sport you'll have to purchase totally different gear (controller, goggles, batteries, quad) as these are not designed to be part of the hobby but rather a one shop everything in one drone to get you started, but fully non-compatible with anything else on the market.

People need to rethink how the higher weight of a battery effects the drone. Typhoon H weight with battery 1,695 and my Typhoon with a 8,050mah battery weighs 1,749. That's only 3.1% more weight the drone flys with. My 3% heavier drone flies with 28% more battery capacity and that is figuring the stock battery is 6,300mah if I use the labeled 5,400mah battery, then it just to 49%. Not sure if it directly works like this, but I would assume you should take 3.1% away from those added capacities. Someone school me if I am looking at it the wrong way because this makes the most sense to me. My 8,050 battery adds 54g to the entire drone because it isn't just a flying battery. 8,050 mah pack adds 28% capacity and 3% more weight to the entire drone. So 25% more flight time? Plus the 8050 should hold a higher voltage for 25% longer which is what I actually care about more. I don't run my packs all the way down and bring the Typhoon H in not too long after the first warning signal. I guess I use about 3/5ths of the packs capacity.

Hi, you can fly the Typhoon H without any firmware updates, you just won't have some newer features. If you can fly without GPS then you're very skilled at flying. There are plenty of videos on KZbin on how to install updates in the Typhoon H if ever you need help. I'm not exactly certain what the C rating is for the Powerextra battery. I asked and they just said it was higher than that of Yuneec. I've never flowns helies, but I do fly race quads very often.
