I grew up in Texas and Louisiana. Finding a spot like this, a center choke point with a deep pool just on the downstream side, eddies on both sides, riprap, and trees for shade was like finding Shangri-La.

But y'all were there and y'all had fun and that's the one immutable rule in fishing: you WILL have fun, whether you like it or not. 😎 It's funny, whenever you mention turtles I have to muse about how back home you can keep common snappers with a fishing license... one summer me and my buddy Jeff were blessed with a never-ending stream of turtle bites, so we decided that we were going to keep the next turtle we caught. So guess what? LOL that was in like 2011, and neither one of us have hooked a snapping turtle since! Little bastards must have heard us and spread the word... lol...
