I use Laban Keyboard and my cellphone and Windows Vietnamese input on my PC, and both are set to VNI. Some of my Vietnamese friends like Telex and some VNI. I tried both and for me VNI is much easier.

Yeah just go for an easier option for you. I think it's because for VNI you use numbers to type tones.

So the tone markers always come at the end of the word ? Is that correct ?

It is the best way. Or you can type it after typing the vowels in a word.
