If Jay had actually explained to Natasha what a teacher’s pet is, then she could’ve understood what they wanted more. But that doesn’t create drama so they let her struggle

Yeah, I remember so vividly watching this episode as a teen. I am russian just like Natasha and I neither could understand what they meant by teacher’s pet even tho the episode was translated. And as a bonus we never bring apples (or any food) to our teachers, it is just not a thing. I understand what they meant now and you are 100% right, all the situation could’ve been resolved if they just explained her the concept in simple words, it is not hard to do

"But when I was a model"... Tyra never EVER stops comparing these girls to herself, no matter how much their situations differs... Like a girl can confess to horrid things happening to her when she was younger and explain that as a reason for not performing well under certain circumstanses. But Tyra comes along and goes. @@semerahpadi4484 If they are less productive, teach them, wasting supplies, let them learn and then give them advice, if you perceive what they’re doing is selfish talk to them about it, then look closely at your behaviour and try to see it from their point of view. If they open up about serious trauma, be there for them and attempt to be compassionate to their situation, if you are not very comfortable with your emotions or expressing them to acquaintances the least displayed decency and/or find somebody who can comfort them, not ignore and disregarded them because you can’t understand their situation and so believe it to be irrelevant. People need time to learn, and not everyone is interested in learning, treating people like crap, like they’re beneath you, like nothing they ever do will meet your standard, never giving any credit for growth or investing time in helping you’re younger colleagues better themselves is what you can do other than simply complaining and leaving them to their own devices because you’re annoyed, if you cared about your job and your workplace then you would attempt to support the people that are implied there in a way that you able. Otherwise you’re just blowing hot air, since you’re not willing to do much about it, anything you claim as your attempt at assisting your fellow colleagues is putting them down and demonstrating subpar interpersonal skills, wasting everyone’s time and thereby losing money for company, you are complicit bystander in what you claim to be “productivity issues”, you seem to have a little compassion and interest in other success which makes you the definition of selfish, honestly overall I think you hold yourself to such a high standard that you can’t even tolerate other people that don’t meet the standard you never will yourself, I think you’re projecting onto people and I don’t think that’s healthy. I’m an ESOL teacher and English idioms are really hard for all my students. Understand that if a second language speaker were even to look up “teacher” and “pet” individually, they would not necessarily get the context when trying to compound the words together. Translation devices are also notoriously bad at idioms and idiomatic phrases, and this was shot way before access to the Internet on your cell phone was a thing (not that reality contestants can hold onto them anyway even in 2022, production usually takes them away)

An apple was a gesture of appreciation for the teacher and traditionally given on the first day of school. It started centuries ago and at some point (I would guess 1960's) it evolved into currying favor. Her pose made sense in that she was gifting the teacher with an apple but had an ulterior motive. Poor Natasha is from Russia. She had a language barrier and didnt understand what a teacher's pet even was. How was copy what you have seen in a magazine good advice? They needed to explain what could convey "teacher's pet" because honestly I dont even really know what Natasha could have done because it is so random to be a Teacher's pet when there wasnt even a designated model to BE the teacher.
@IsabellaQuinns
@IsabellaQuinns Жыл бұрын
I can relate to that! I'm Russian, too, but I think everyone would struggle with this task. Imo being a bad girl or a cheerleader is a much simpler task than conveying a story that you are the teacher's "pet"... And these random apples as props certainly didn't help

They had such charisma and presence that was felt throughout the show, they met judgement and criticism with humour and grace. Super smart, talented, skilled and relatable ladies. To be fair, Renee was a nightmare who complained about literally everything, especially when she felt her assignment wasn't the coolest/sexiest/best one, ignoring any and all potential with the assignment she got. Class clown? She could have run with that and been the most outrageous and stole the whole photoshoot. Instead she pouted the entire time and badmouthed the other girls. She was one of the few contestants on the show I had zero sympathy for by the end of her cycle.

You know what kind of modeling show would be awesome? They pick out conventionally "unatractive" or you know, just regular average people and they teach them to model. The show would prove you're beautiful no matter what and it would give t's viewers some confidence and maybe even teach them how to taky better photos themselves! You know, it could have a bit of Queer Eye energy, they could pick out contestants with low confidence and hopefuly by the end of the show they'd feel better. Idk why we don't have more wholesome reality shows, people would eat it up.

I was watching another show - Glow up last weekend and I very fondly remember Face off. No unnecessary drama, feedback that's on point and helpfull, support and a feeling that even the judges are actually really rooting for the contestsnts. And there is pressure, just not added to by things that have nothing to do with what they're competing in. Are make up professionals just nicer and more professional than the rest of the "fashion"/entertainment industry 😅? Because ANTM (and similar) and even Project Runway always seemed like it was drama first, competition second.

Instead of Jay explaining it to her, he was berating her for not reading his mind. Also, what Jay was saying to Samantha was borderline SH. It was so wildly inappropriate and disgusting. So I have my own opinion on this. I think to be a great model, a TOP model I guess, models are able to do things out of their limits or comfort zones they haven't done before. Not physically, but I guess emotionally or things they're not. And Jaslene is indeed a good model. I get what Rene was saying, but at the same time, good models are wide range. So I don't think Jaslene was getting favored. She's just good. And she got critique as well.
