There were a couple of mistakes, but it's an army both do not know that well yet. It went a little chaotic looking up stats and strats, misremembering things and you can tell they were not that comfortable with the Tyranids overall. But that will come. I think Adrian underestimated the power of Nids psychic phase in this one gameplay wise. A 6w model tying up Hive Guard in melee turn 1 with 3 mobile psichers very close, one has +1 to psychic powers and another model has reroll 1s in the psychic phase and he has another power just like smite (bypassing the +1 to the smite test for those mortal wounds). Just killing that Piranha off with MWs from psychic powers, shoot the Kroots off the (from our perspective) left objective in Brians deployment zone forcing other units to move there would've made the game very easy for Nids tbh. But the beauty of Warhammer is we have fun and learn and improve every game :)

Was really disappointed with this game. Brian specifically asked if his Swarmlord could fall back and charge and Adrian said no, but then he did, which cost Brian a squad of Kroot who could have held an objective for the last two turns. Then, Brian specifically asked if the Lictor could scramble, and Adrian said no, but then he did scramble with the Lictor. Brian easily could have killed or blocked the lictor with the Riptide and lost ten points because of this. If it didn’t have an impact on the game, I wouldn’t have cared, but both of these cost Brian the game, which feels real bad. Not to mention Adrian was just moving models after placing them all the damn time and did so many take-backs. I’ve always been fine with the laid back way you guys play - it’s how I play myself - but this was too much. I hope to see a little more rigor from you guys in future games. Still love you guys and this is still my favorite 40k channel, but I felt the need to say this. ❤️ ❤️

Haven't watched yet , redoing movement of a unit is generally fine, getting kraken fall back and charge and lictor scramblers wrong , then doing what you said you couldn't sounds real bad.

Completely agree. I love the dynamics the team has and casual gameplay but the lictor example is pretty crappy. And they didn't even calculate points properly at the end. Adrian said he got 15 primary points even though he was on 2 points same as Brian.

@@nukes1991 Brian was only on 1 but he should have been on 3 at the end of the game , Riptide to the middle instead when his move didn't make it to the bottom corner , Kroot not dead holding the top point from the lictor . The Final score was 58 Tyranids 72 T'au . I could tell by turn 5 lictor can deploy scamblers Brian had had enough, I saw 3 "this is rediculous" facial expressions I am pretty sure he did not think out turn 5 properly. If any of ya'll want to see just how bad this battle report is check my timestamps comment. If they don't get John Lennon as a special guest for the next Tyrannids match the amount I watch the channel will definitely drop dramatically even more. You could tell they had not spent enough time prepping looking at the Tyranids info before this stream .

adrian said before the game started the lictor could scramble for what its worth. redoing movement is generally fine in casual games and I couldn't find the fall back and charge clip.

@@WFDConnor Yes he said lictors could scramble before the game ,start of turn 4 or 5 Brian asked if there was any way the lictor could reach his deployment zone to complete deploy scramblers , Adrian said no. The Fall back and Charge is Brian sending his Kroot in to tie up swarmlord for a turn because Adrian said swarmlord couldnt't fall back and charge , then far too late viewers informed Adrian Kraken can fall back and charge after almost a whole battle round had gone by , the kroot should have been brought back to the game at full strength holding that corner point because Brian only put them into the swarmlord to keep the swarmlord off his other models for a turn and the kroot would have stopped the lictor from being able to make it to brians DZ while staying 6" away from enemy models to do the action.

as a note, farsight enclave do exclude non tau. it's been a part of their spesific lore for a while, so them denying kroot, vespid and the like is correct.

If they have retconned it since then let me know and how, but the rules seem to still support that auxillary aren't Farsight Enclave. Brian's 3 kroot moving to block the swarmlord could have stopped the lictor deploying scramblers instead . If all 10 were still alive by not charging something that could fall back that they were told could not they would have also stopped the swarmlord being able to get the point turn 5 without having the move block him. Tau easily won this game. And I am a Tyranid player. My only question is could the dimachaeron that died turn 1 have actually been hidden.

The lictor getting the scramble at the end was very cheap. I realize that neither player was aware of the stratagem so it wasn't out of malice but that choice decided the game. The full riptide shooting will kill the lictor and that's a 10 point swing which is huge. It literally decided the game. It's pretty easy to realize that killing the lictor is the only option if it can make it into the deployment zone. At a minimum there should have at least been an offer to re-cock for the riptide's shooting to make up for it.

Tau is using a command point to put markerlights on targets. I am confused on how he is doing this. I know of the strategem that lets you add d3+1 instead of just 1 but you have to hit something with a markerlight first. I don't have all the chapter approved books yet, but coming from 8th edition I don't follow this play. Thank you to whoever can help me with this.

I felt in this match up there were a couple of issues. One Adrian panicked and tried to do the impossible in kill something T1. 2. One too many dimareachons. 3. Have 2 exocrines and you will outrgun tau and most other armies for shots, range and power. 3. Sit back and have a shooting match and the nids will win. 4. You need a melanthrope with 4 zonthrooes as guards and mortal wounds running up to support the big monsters with -1 to hit.

I disagree. Lets keep the fact they don't list tailor to fight the specific opponent, cause that would just be boring. But Definitely your view of thinking what has to be in the army I don't agree with. You need the critters to play the mission, also 2 exocrines is really not enough for a gunline list. Exocrines are easy to kill without a invul, as was shown in this game. So your firepower would be soon gone, cause you have to move them in line of sight for them to shoot. This list has done very well on tournaments fighting meta armies (sadly that's not really tau at the moment) so I don't think the fault is in the list. I do agree with you that Adrian didn't do a great job with target selection. But yeah what works in one setting, doesn't always work in the other. Maybe where you play those shooting lists actually dominate the games. And if I have to guess you don't see a lot of deathwing/death guard and drukhari lists. Anyway long story short, every list has a counter to it.

Good battle report up until the last 30 mins or so. The ending was kinda BS with how much rule switcheroo shinanigans were happening. Kinda soured the entire experience because of that. I enjoy the casual laid back vibe, but when there's game changing rules getting said one way, and then everything gets flipped 5 minutes later, and a player loses the game because of that, that's super not enjoyable to see.

As a tyranid player that was brutal to watch. The win felt hollow after that miss play of rules for swarmy and the lictor. I'm normally very forgiving when it comes to rules slips but that was rough. And more over Adrian really goofed this list. Like my God this list if piloted how it is ment to be played would have wiped and tabled Brian. It's just a really bad showing all around. No idea how to run the list, no idea about the rules. It hurt my soul.

This was a rather interesting game up until the last half-hour or so. As others have pointed out, the rules mistakes that get taken advantage of by mostly Adrian seem to becoming common place and it really detracts from the quality of these games. Brian gives the benefit of the doubt but the relationship between players doesn’t seem that reciprocal.
