I'm looking forward to your review of this tire and your impression of how it compares to the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T. I believe this is or will be, available in a few XL load rated sizes, which I can't imagine having a 3 ply sidewall. Unfortunately, I have been told there are no plans to make a 245/65/17, which I think would be very popular, here in the USA.

I've been a Goodyear man for years. Currently running the old version of the Duratracs and I highly rate them. The new generation will definitely be my next AT. They just get better and better and I have absolutely given all my Goodyear tyres(whether it be the MT's or AT's) an absolute bashing.

Thanks for putting up the first real information on this tire on KZbin. Any chance you can ask Dennis to get an accurate weight for the 255/80R17 version of this tire? When contacting Goodyear support directly they give a weight of 50.48LBS for every size of this tire, 255/80, 285/70, 265/70 etc, all 50.48.

Just purchased 5 of these in 255/80R17 and can confirm Goodyears weight is wrong. The tires varied from 53.5-55lbs ea.

It's funny that this tire in AU has different side tread pattern compared to the US version. Not sure what would be the performance difference behind this.

Just a bit of a shame that they did no include a 255-65-R17 in their range. It is a common tyre size these days. I would have loved to try a set at that std size. I can't go 265-65-R17 as my rims are only 17x7", and I don't really want to go to a 265-70-R17 due to speedo issues and wear and tear on the driveline + handling. My car is my daily driver on bitumen, with the odd excursion off road towing a boat. Guess I'll have to stick with the AT3W's that I'm running, but have been impressed with. I'm spoilt for choice at 245-70-R17 though so that might be the way I go!

In the US, I was told there is or will be a 255/65/17 and a 245/70/17 but they are both XL Load rated, implying them to be a 6 ply tire, if that makes a difference to you.

My 2019 hilux SR factory fitted 17x7 steelies with 265/65/17. No problem with that size fitment

RUBBER compound is NOT the same per Goodyear it contains Kevlar. XL and LT have three-ply sidewalls per Goodyear. Not sure Mr. Goodyear Guy knows what he is talking about. Also believe, previous LT versions had 3-ply sidewalls, the XL versions did not.

Lol the rubber itself doesn’t have Kevlar in it. It’s a layer in the tread ply
