Aussie Anglo-Celt ('white' guy in American-speak) here, so my input might be different as our subcultures are different to America, but in the 1970s every single white guy on tv or movies had long shaggy hair like some greasy hippie... And in the 2000s every "cool" white guy had the weird spiky hair with frosted highlights which absolutely no kid I ever knew actually had back then. Other examples are probably more characterisations I guess, so those two are the most obvious I can think of
