Context is very important. The media was trying to cancel him before this song even came out, this is the first song in the MMLP because he wanted to test the world with what is and isn’t allowed to be said. He admits that’s it’s an exaggeration on bashing women, but at the end of the song he said he was just joking. Indicating that all words are permissible as long as it’s a joke.

Theres plenty of interviews with Dre talking pretty candidly about Eminem. He was practically Dre's favorite topic for awhile. He alternated between fascinated and horrified like the rest of us 😂

in the early 2000s they played Em on the radio constantly, like every other song he was requested. he got so popular from his radio hits that nobody realized until after buying one of the albums that he made songs like this hahaha

When Em's first album blew up, there were a LOT of upset people. Eminem was accused of being homophobic, misogynistic, and of promoting violence to the point where he was getting blamed by politicians for Columbine, because the shooters were fans (Marilyn Manson got this treatment even worse, but Em also got mentioned in major speeches at the time). His response was this album, which is wilder and angrier than anyone could have imagined. This is the first song on that album.
