I'm a nurse practitioner and just sworn in as Captain on 6/7/24 at the age of 48! It was a long process but well worth the wait.

Congratulations 🎉 seeing your comment gives me hope. I will be 48 in September. I’m an Army veteran hoping to direct commission in the Air Force as a new grad nurse but nervous that they might not accept me due to age. I’m going to contact a recruiter this week 🙏🏾

Hi @Nunezrn10 does the AFNG help pay for your NP?

@@deirdretorres7631 to keep short, AFIT/AFPC will help with that process.

Thank you for posting all your Air Force videos! All informative and helpful. I began the process to join in April 2023 and finally found out March 2024 that I was selected for commission. I will be entering as a nurse at the young age of 47 day before I turn 48😂.

Nothing wrong with that! the best part is, this is your retirement ticket! Make sure you say hi if you see me around! also when do you ship to ots?!

Hello! Thank you so much for producing these videos. It’s been so helpful to gain more insight about the AF. I am actually in the process of applying for OTS and taking my AFOQT in January. Just want to get some advice and help. I am a little nervous if I don’t pass the test after all my attempts. Can I enlist instead? Thanks again for your time! I appreciate it!
@genesis.kts_2 жыл бұрын
Enlisting will be a 4 year commitment. Remember that if there is a means to commission go that route. More importantly prioritize your career. I feel like if you enlist it will set you back. That is me though. Know what you want and find the alternatives.

You helped me a lot and inspired me. I am looking at going to AFROTC route n college do you know anything about that process? Should I still apply to OTS?
@genesis.kts_2 жыл бұрын
If you go the ROTC route you won't need to do anything but stay in ROTC. You can receive your direct commission through them. No need to apply through ots. You will be have your in own process which is a lot simpler. 3 ways to commission: direct, ROTC, and the af academy! Congrats!!

How long would you say it normally takes for ICU nurses to get trained in Ccatt? Esp if you commission as an icu nurse. Thanks!
@genesis.kts_2 жыл бұрын
you need to be at least a year on post. ive seen people go pretty quick tho, depending on slot availability. they usually have a year filled up and if people drop out you can potentially go depending on how bad you really wanna go

Hello, As a Nurse in the AirForce, does that mean you no longer renew your RN License in the Philippines?
@genesis.kts_2 жыл бұрын
I never renewed my Philippines license. I don't see a means to as I don't practice there. so no news.

not much, just more time toward rank. let's just say getting your MSN done faster will look good for promotion boards especially for lieutenant colonel.

How long is your contract as a nurse in the Airforce?
@animationguy50202 жыл бұрын
Based on my research Airforce has smallest ICU slots. Do you recommend applying to navy or army to get higher chance of getting in especially if my credentials is thin Second thing does airforce care about where you got your MSN degree or your grade? Pinoy nurse here too im looking into WGU to get the degree faster and cheaper. What are your thoughts? Mabuhay kababayan
@genesis.kts_2 жыл бұрын
Your gpa should be greater than a 3.0. your school should be ccne or acen accredited. Make sure wgu has those credentials. It doesn't matter the experience as long as you have icu experience and you ace your interview.
