Only in war you have general of the army.

A five star general is only in war, and it is the highest possible rank gives you a rank above all other officers in generals in the United States army, and you were under direct command of the president

5 star should be "Field General" refer to "Field Marshal", equivalent to the Navy as "Fleet Admiral" rather than "Admiral of the Fleet".

​@@steventowler7588and, to add to your answer, technically not a member of the military. The US is set up very intentionally for a civilian to be the commander in chief of the military. And thus technically not a rank because they're not in the military.
