Tier 1 : delta, devgru, 24th special tactics squadron. Only 3 in the u.s military ( marine raiders too but not part of socom) Tier 2: seals, parescue, green berets, combat controllers, rangers, sowt, tacp, night stalkers, swcc. ( force recon) Tier 3: all branches infantry, airborne, etc. (Mostly armies force and marines)

So I see a lot of confusion on the tier system here, and I wanted to help out. The top of the food chain is JSOC, which is comprised of Tiers1 & 2. Tier 1 are Delta, Devgru, the Activity, and there are other units like SAD and FBI HRT that are just as good, but not on the tier system. Then you have tier 2 units that support tier 1 units whether it be a cordon or an addition of capabilities like calling in air. Those units are units like the 75th Ranger Regt, some SWCC guys, and some CCT's. Then its the rest of SOCOM that makes up tier 3. Army SF, the rest of the Seal teams, and Marsoc make up tier 3. Although Force Recon and Recon Battalion are considered SOF units, and just as hard to get into, they are not part of SOCOM because the Marine Corps did not want to give them up when SOCOM was stood up. The tier system is only a way to measure funding, but along with funding comes missions. The only guys that are going to do raids in countries that we are not are war with (IE Pakistan, Yemen, and god knows where else) are going to units that are in JSOC. Oh and Tier 1 units have been taking Marines for a long time. It used to be extremely difficult, but Devgru has been taking Force guys for a long time, and now that MARSOC is stood up, Marines have been slowly but surely funneling into ACE (formally known as CAG, formally known as Delta). For all you kids that want to get into the SOF community, best of luck, dont quit, and get some.

I know for a fact that Marsoc is the Marines equivalent of green berets and yes green berets are civilian affairs they are not sent on combat missions, they solve issues within the country and the population they are not combat specialists

I don't know why tacp (tactical air control party) from the air force is not in there they are like combat control but they work in a group of about 6-10 and call down air strikes on enemy positions that we do not know the exact position of and also call down air strikes to support other troops that are pinned down they are the real deal when it comes to special forces and have led to the eradication of many enemy bases via air strike. Same with eod (explosive ordnace disposal) they disarm ieds and navy eod works with seals and other special forces and goes through the exact same training plus more so that they can do their specific job.

No Delta does not invite anyone. You send in a request and they select you to go to training. Read what I said, his plan seems ridiculous at best. There are guys who go SF from the 75th but they don't plan on it right away. If you want to be a Green beret go that route.

well for the first part i'm not trying for delta (yet, but most likely wont) and i'm taking this in strive just one step at a time, i don't want to dive into SF immediately i may not even go for SF but for sure want to at least try Airborne and rangers. secondly, honestly i have no idea i made the account i think 4 years ago i just thought it sounded cool and i don't know how to change it. My ship date though for basic is August 26th, at fort Benning.

Hai Huynh bro im portuguese and I can say that you guys have a lot of spec ops groups and all of them great... dont be like that xb if you come to Portugal in the army w have 3 spec ops: Army Rangers, Army Commandos and Paras... in the navy we got Marines, Recon Marines, DAE (Your Navy Seals so to say) and yes we got GAT (spec ops of our coast guard, we call it Maritime Police over hear xb). In the Police we got GOE (Public Security Police) and GIOE (Nacional Republican Guard)... and thats it xD

not just jsoc they don't fall under USASOC USASFC or JSOC in any way shape form or fashion they are apart of the 18th Airborne Corps which falls under forscom long story short they are pretty much just the most high speed infantry soldiers the army has to offer. but in order for them to even lean towards being SOF they would have to have some surgical strike capability or at least support the guys who do.

Which is exactly why Air Force CCT and PJs are often embedded into SEAL teams. When it comes down to, lets say, a strike team, SEALs win hands down

By the way most of the pictures you used for force recon where of navy seals the way i can tell this is marines dont invade vessels like what is shown in some of the pictures and the one picture the firing line on the aircraft carrier, you can see a patch on each of their shoulders that represents seal team three's opertation in Iraq also force recon does not use under water insertion as shown

ps. the only reason Marsoc is not as know as the seals is because they are under 6 years old and yes they do do the same work as green berets, Marsoc has more intensive training than green berets, however out of the members of Tier 2 Seals would have to be the best; most funding, most intensive training and biggest combat role, the same goes with Tier 1 ST6 is apex and Naval special warfare is superior to the rest of SOF

Your point about being in marine recon is corract but force recon doesnt insert by water the same way seals do they dont use SDVs or rebreathers like SEALs do Force recon uses water insertion but not in the same way and not to the same extent Trust me I know several SEALs and also Several Marines in Force Recon

2 questions... Why are you going Rangers then Green Berets? Most guys who go into Delta are 75th guys and most guys who go into ISA are SF so your going through two intense trainings for no reason. If you want to be SF go SF. Second question, why is your name Devildog if you want to go Army?

Actually SEAL Team 6 is not MARSOC's Tier One unit. MARSOC does not have a tier one unit. Just because the Marine Corps is in the navy does not mean they share the same units. And also it is NAVY SEALs not MARINE CORPS SEALs.

marsoc is actually the hardest selection and yet you dont put them in your list. you have to be a marine then go threw marine recon training then get selected for force recon battalion then have 2 or more deplyoments then you go into selection training which no1 knows what is like because you extremely high classified only sf or soc that doesnt have information or videos on there selection and training.

the vid was decent but your missing some vital stuff.first there is no tier 3 units and if there was such a designation it would be conventional operation such as 101st airborne,MAGTF etc.....there are two tiers.tier 1 and tier 2.the 3 primary tier 1 units are Devgru,1st SFOD-D,and the 24th STS.every other special operations unit is consider tier 2 such as rangers,seals,paramedics etc....that's it plz know your shit ppl

there is no best there is only the best in that area like this (for me): Naval,Water Warfare = Seals, Ground,breaching,mountain warfare= Marsoc, Woodlands= Green berets, Leaders = Army Rangers, Blending in with people, places,terrains anything and taking the enemys out fast= delta force, air= Pararescue. there is no best overall because in each area one is better then the other,

You're "military experts" are wrong. My friend who moved to VA beach has an older brother in the Teams who confirmed this. There are many places on the internet (whether its Delta, DEVGRU, ISA, 24STS) that tell you the "invite" rumor is false. They will not invite you, it's your job to show initiative. The 95% thing varies but yes it is a high attrition rate.

no offense man but Rangers are not only a infantry, they can do raids, assaults, set perimeters, hostage situation, go to warfare(for me they are the best in this area), even, fight against all kinds of enemies, they are airbone rangers, plus they history tells everything, they do what other special operations can't do, when the devegru, delta force or other special operation are in danger they sent the Rangers to save their asses, no offense.

ok no offense but here you are just stereotypeing SEALs are just as good at everything else as they are in water, MARSOC and Green Berets are mainly civilian affairs and don't really see any direct action, Rangers are Tier 3 that is the lowest you can get in SOF they are essentially elite infantry, for delta force you just are judging off of the pictures and your experience playing call of duty In my opinion Devgru is better at doing the job, they are not all equal thats what Tiers are for.
