I was 11 years old when I found this song. I say know in the sense of really understanding the lyrics and what they mean. and since then it's been my favorite song in the whole world. I recently had bouts of depression that almost made me take my own life, and yesterday, during a therapy session, this music played in the background. I talked about how tired I was and how I wanted to give it all up. And then I remembered that I still haven't found what I'm looking for.This DVD version of The Joshua tree album is the most beautiful and full of meaning. God acts, believe it and never stop looking...

If I had heard this song in the background at a therapy session, considering the connection, I think I would have said thank you Jesus…for letting me know you ARE with me. As someone who has ptsd, I hold on tight to the promise that God loves me. I hold on tight that he Is more powerful than he who is in the world. I’m sorry for your trials your struggles I get it. I pray God gives us strength to reach out to community who too suffers openly so we can lift each other up and hold each other. Forgive the advice but I listen to insight for living-Chuck Swindoll-every night as I’m falling asleep, helps tremendously. Please never forget that Jesus loves you and that your trials may be a gift to others someday as you share them. 🙏❤️👆🏼

@robertocaesar2 жыл бұрын
@@rosalindpaaswell9513 I cannot answer about the profit from U2 here, because they're singing a theme which it's not theirs but for what they have paid the rigths to version, and I also don't know what copyrights apply to this kind of video in which other artists perform. I think what you ask is credit not copyright, but I also think it is the owner who has that demand, and it is not yours to claim. If the ones in charge of that church want the credit, they are free to ask. They may also not want to be credited as sometimes is the case. The bottom line is that I am sure U2, the choir and the church have discussed this to all satisfaction. There is no need to pick up fights where there is none. The fact that you may want something does not make it subject to a special response or right. We all know that every church is a non-profit organization, and also they are completely in charge of what they decide to do with things they take care of.

@@rosalindpaaswell9513 and finally, you understand that this is a video taken from anywhere else, and this channel is not under the power of U2, the church, the choir or the singers, right? @@thankyou2532 What Dennis is saying is that he orchestrated the choir in the video. Their name is New Voices of Freedom. The Rattle and Hum DVD (with this video in it) became quite popular back then. The Harlem Gospel Choir told everyone that it was them that were in the video, which was a blatant lie.

You NEED to find the CD of the album (Rattle and Hum) and hear the OTHER version they all did ! It's all done on stage at Madison Square Garden in front of a capacity crowd. Yes - it's still the New Voices of Freedom choir - and there are stunning solo performances (by a male and a female) performed at the end... I used to wonder why they omitted the MSG performance in the movie... now in seeing this again I understand. This simple "unplugged" version in a Harlem church has a special power all it's own, very fitting for a visual like the movie. They left the MSG performance for the album. *EDIT: No need for a CD... Its something to hear your songs played on the radio, but hearing your songs sung by a gospel choir in Harlem is something else. -Bono

I’ve listen to this song since it came out. I’ve heard it in concert many times and in many other versions by the band. This rendition has been the most powerful to me…. It truly invokes the meaning of the lyrics. Amazing.

The thing a lot of people don't get, is that this is a song about God. He carried the cross, took our shame, broke the bonds, all that.

Eli Hartsoe This song is about "still haven't found what I am looking for". (It's about being lost) Please pray for the whole U2 band

Did u read all of the lyrics? This is NOT a gospel song. He talks about walking with satan and not in a negative way. The song says he STILL HASNT FOUND WHAT HEEZ LOOKING FOR. This has nothing to do with my Christ. Cause if u look, u will find Him. Jesus saves!

Me, too. Great NPR piece. I’ve always loved this version of U2’s classic song (have it on the recently released TJT box set with The New Voices of Freedom live from MSG), but seeing the video of the rehearsal-just wow. The beautiful 80s alive again.

Amazing music, outstanding gospel choir. I so love choirs :-). If you write that kind of lyrics and somebody else elevates it to that level, that's not a bad day for your ego.
