How I miss these days. This was few days before JT came out. Vividly remember as an exited 15 yr old, rushing up to Woolworths to get my copy before school on the Monday morning. And then skipping school listening to the masterpiece all day long. Completely blown away. Love to U2

Brick Top I did all the same,I loved U2 but as I watch this now Isee how the JT was their peak but also the time bono's head exploded.I mean why the F is he picking up a guitar at the end of Exit?. Sorry but his ego made me fall out of love with this once great band.

EQ2snorkle Bono has added some very complimentary guitar to U2 songs. The end of Without Without You has Bono all over it.

+Brick Top It was the evening that JT was released and after the gig the band went to a record shop in Belfast to sign copies at midnight. I was there at the filming of the show, it was huge to see them at such close proximity, even more so as we knew we were probably among the first to hear the tracks.

I was there, 200 invited guests..Bono kept stopping as wasn't happy with various issues. On before U2 was Sinead O'Connor bald, heavily pregnant and largely unknown performed 3/4 songs without stopping or making a fuss ( looking at you Bono) and blew everyone away! Definitely the highlight of the evening. Thank you Sinead for the memories.

The year is 1987. They also performed trip through your wires for the second time. But it it was the first time that they played it with the lyrics as we now know it. The first performance of that song in januari 1986 was even more raw with unfinished lyrics. When the songs are still fresh for U2 as well, they might not hit every note, but you can feel the exitement in the songs. In those moments they are at there finest Playing new songs before relative small audiences pure and raw

What happened?? They grew, they got older man. Like you, like your parents, like everybody, like their audience. You can´t expect they will stay at the same position forever. Even if they were actually exactly like in this video, the audience won´t see them like before. The humans tend to think that old times are allways better, because your memory tend to remember the very first memories of something. Music is not only about the artists, but the way the listener listen to the music, and after so many years, so many concerts, so many groups, you can´t see them like before.
@Stratman3896 жыл бұрын
More than just age happened to U2 to be fair. During the early nineties they embraced technology, they injected a lot of humour, they incorporated dance music and became a very rich band in the process. They eventually deconstructed themselves and returned to their earnest ways of the eighties but c'mon lets be honest, they lost their way in the process. Other artists have retained their integrity while u2 have become some kinda kareoke version of themselves.

This performance is so weird. Even though I think both versions of these songs are pretty good in this recording they as a band seem so raw and almost uncomfortable. They were huge stars at this point and would have played hundreds of shows but they still seem so young and unpolished. Also playing to a room full of corpses does not help. It’s just strange, it’s feels like this is them promoting their 1st album and their first live television experience.

That's the point of a front man, A lead singer to have a big ego. To harness the energy of the band and the audience and burst into fire (Not like Michael Jackson) But to shine bright to make a good show, everyone else plays a supporting role. Not like Eddie Van Halen (4example) Who always try to steal the camera shot in all their videos.
