I saw this on MTV original air date. My best friend taped on his beta vcr!!! (oh my!) and I haven't seen it since...thought of it often and designated about an hour to find it tonight! Didn't even know if it had a name but knew it was an MTV thing. So happy to find it! I've always loved the scene where Bono is at the bar with the tipsy folks!

msrebelnardcore got the whole thing recorded from my original VHS onto DVD if you 'still haven't found what you're looking for' 6 years on :)

I seem to remember this was shown on The Old Grey Whistle Test on New Years Eve in what, `88 or `89? I recorded it on VHS and watched it repeatedly then lost it.

msrebelnardcore I remember it from TV as well. The whole thing is up now. I think it shows a much different and interesting time for the band than Rattle and Hum would thw next year. I think this peice was kind of forgotten as it didn't fit on with the messianic tone of the feature.

that song they are rehearsing is Lucille, the song by the fictional band "The Daltons" when U2 opened up for themselves like 3 times

@sacer111 Wow, that's very harsh. People are allowed to grow up...and U2 is hardly dead. Just saw them in concert and they packed a lot of raw power...still.

yeah. and he's totally aware of having that effect on folks. ;)

U2me86: that's really interesting--"Lucille" has undertones of "I still haven't found what I'm looking for." Did the "Daltons" cut any CDs?

27 the golden age fabulous band then. bono had a great voice,no pretentousous or selling out,raw and full of energy. I hate to say it but anyone who knows u2 history will know it was downhill from here, apart from snippets of achtung baby and pop.probable why so many pthers before them moved on to another life at 27. fact.

I like U2 before Achtung but prefer them from ZooTV on.

everyone can see that they are not the same band of today! Obvious! But not only because it's more than 20 years ago....see their eyes, see their expression, their faces. I know now, Bono and company are dead more than 20 years ago. Maybe after 1989..

Utterly pointless documentary. Makes rattle and hum look like a master piece.

Those who appreciate it stick around and those who don’t, take a hike. Have fun!
