I graduated from UBC last year. Though, I am proud of my alma mater, I can say they’re cash cows everything cost a fortune parking, residences, meal. It’s a mall not a university.

I graduated from UBC in the 90s. Even then many of us were living in illegal suites because they kept building luxury housing on campus instead of looking after the students. Many decisions were made for the “city” UBC and not the university. It would be wise for the government to put accountability into the institution that bears the provinces name. And for the campus to stop sending me email asking for donations. I take the John Mulaney view 😉

It’s hilarious, UBC talks about sustainability all the time (and used it as excuse to raise tuition), yet they chose the most unsustainable growth ever: real estate development
@mensrea12512 ай бұрын
That’s a poor take. If real estate development is “unsustainable growth” and we shouldn’t do it, then I’d like to see you literally build your own hut and live in it. You won’t though. You just want cheap rent and zero responsibility from the looks of it.

@@mensrea1251 UBC has a very limited land and a housing issue. Yet they are using their land to develop condo. What is the problem wanting cheap rent near a school with limited public transit?
