I've been an Uber driver over 2.5 years and approximately 9500 trips. In my market, they just show you the duration of the trip in minutes and how faraway the pickup is, that's it. No $ amount or where they are going. Often times, the destination is going in the "wrong direction" for me and taking me further away from my preferred area. The app needs to provide more information to all markets, not just a select few.

@@bigjml Depends on your market. If your market is oversaturated like Los Angeles is, the honey pot may not exist past the one ride you decide to accept. So if it's a shorty, you may find yourself not getting anything after it because the honey has all been stolen.

As a driver for the last nine years, I can tell you we are way worse off. Upfront fair is completely an utterly unfair they give you a number that’s upfront but if you get there too early, they take money away. All of a sudden you’re paid a different amount. Now, if it takes longer to get there, they don’t increase nothing. And in some instances, I seem to be getting less which again I believe very unfair.

Sometimes they try to take me around the city via the highway late night but going thru the city is sometimes 4-5 miles shorter and not much traffic that late, and takes less time so I do it.

They never pay less than what it says for upfront pay. The problem is when the trip takes long because of traffic, detour, construction, police activity or a trash truck, you don't get paid extra... most of the time. Sometimes their system actually picks it up and pays you more. To be clear, I'm talking about Lyft, not Uber.

The acceptance rate has morphed into a whole new disaster for Uber. Their insistence on low compensation to drivers while boosting fares for riders has created a national crisis of “Unacceptable offers” drivers will not agree to. It reintroduces the issue of longer wait times for riders and dissatisfaction while at the same time destroys driver incentives and enthusiasm that worked well for them. They are squeezing both sides while attempting to string together a few pathetic quarters of profitability. Uber has serious operational issues.

It is such B.S. with the acceptance and Cancelation rate affecting a drivers status, we should be allowed to accept or cancel any rides without any repercussions. Finally made $30/h in my city Antioch ca. less mile on my car and more stress free. I almost quit yesterday. My opinion is the fare has to be fair for every ride. I dont think i can continue with Uber much longer if the prices stays like this. Even $30/h is not much since we have a car payment, gas, insurance, breakdowns, tires, etc. our car is worth nothing after 2 years and we have to invest in a new car. Cancel rate here is 4.14$US in my market. That is for driving to a pickup, and waiting 7 minutes to cancel. 4.14 is too low for that. Cancellation rate should be at least 7$US if they want us to wait that long after driving to a pickup. Pay should average to 2$US per mile, so a 4 mile trip should be at least 8$US. Personally, I don't think any trip, no matter how short, should pay less than 10$US. That should be the cheapest fare possible with either Uber or Lyft. The rider pays 15$US, we get 10$, company gets 5$ and fares only go up from there.

Two nights ago I was offered an upfront fare for $85 for 72 miles. Normally, that would be a bit too low, considering how far out of town it was going on a Saturday night, but it was slow and going towards my home, so I took it. At the end of the ride, I was paid about 90$US. However, that included a 19$ tip from the customer. I did take a different route than what uber suggested as the passenger requested no toll roads, but the mileage was the same (don't get me started on uber and lyft scamming trips onto toll roads when there are comparable non-toll routes available so they can triple charge riders for the toll). Uber stole 15$ from me on this ride, and since the tip came in immediately at the end of the ride, I have to assume they subsidized my tip into my pay, which is illegal as hell.

Look drivers. Let’s be real here. Dara k knows the complaints of drivers. He is the ceo of the company. He knows the drivers complain about the pay. But he will NEVER change it. Why ? Because it’s one of the biggest scams in the world right now. The majority of drivers are PAYING Uber to drive for them and operating at a LOSS. Uber relies on people that don’t look at the numbers. And when they do. After they keep lying to themselves. They stop driving. And Uber gets more drivers on the merry go round and rinse and repeat. They are buying time until Tesla makes robo taxis for 10k a piece and then drivers won’t be needed. Dara is running a company to make as much money as possible. And the protests, complaints , Reddit posts, KZbin channels, will sadly not change the pay. So. My suggestion is this. When they need drivers for events, Halloween , New Year’s Eve , super bowls. Then you can drive. But rideshare is no longer a full time gig. Please. Stop driving for this scamming ass company.

Advantage vs Standard can only be seen as a violation of independent contractor rights. Uber has years of data and there is no reason why every right shouldn't be profitable to the driver. If the acceptance rates are too low, it is usually because Uber is offering rides that aren't worth it to the driver.

I am in Australia and we dont get to see where the fare is going and have no idea what the fare is worth. However Didi shows us everything. So we take the Uber fare and then we see a better Didi fare and we end up cancelling the Uber fare. Some drivers who worry about their cancellation rate take the Didi fare but never cancel the Uber fare..........in the end the customer gets tired of waiting and can see the driver getting further away and they cancel the trip. I contacted Uber and told them the reason I cancelled a heap of fares was because the Police had closed off streets due to an event. They refused to remove the cancelled fare from my stats. (2% cancellation rate). Now I don't cancel......but that doesn't mean I pick the fare up.......I just keep doing Didi fares until the Uber passenger cancels. The other way to beat the system is to cancel for rider behaviour............the rider booked a fare in a street that was closed off..........LOL The other annoyance is it is supposed to pick the closest car to the job. I have had an Uber passenger in the car and they have a friend who decides they want to continue with me. They book the uber whilst sitting in the car and it gives it to another driver who is 5 mins away. So I get them to cancel and pay me directly........problem solved.

It would be so easy for Uber to fix this, all they have to do is pay drivers. Since New York forced Uber to pay acceptable rates, my acceptance rate went from the low 20s to now approaching over 80%. It's really not that hard, and I'm so much more relaxed while working because I really don't have to play Uber's mindgames anymore. I don't have to worry about quests, accepting bad rides to hit arbitrary goals, overly paying attention to where the app is sending me... as long as I work the right times I simply make money. Consistently almost $30 an hour (online time) and over $1 per mile, easily. If they would just suck it up and do it everywhere things would be cool.

I saw this last night. good for him calling him out put the pay itself aside for PART of this.... lets assume rides paid much better as they should for purposes of this statement about Acceptance rate from one perspective. The algorithm effing sucks. I see this happen to me on the vegas strip every single day i work. i can be at a strip property for 15-20 minutes and decline 10-20 rides because i dont get one request at the property im at, while i see many cars rolling up and picking people up. but, magically, when i drive away all the sudden i get bombardment, or just a couple, of requests for the hotel im at. often, ill get requests on the other end of the strip as well. sometimes ill get requests that are 10 miles away, 15 miles away for a pickup while im in a surge zone, or ill see ride requests that come from a gray area, that is surrounded by a surge zone by a mere block or two. their algo itself is part of the reason why people decline rides, if im in a busy spot, why the hell am i getting rides ELSEWHERE??? far elsewhere at that??? then ill see TRIP RADAR pop up with a ride LITERALLY WHERE IM PARKED! but ill get dispatched requests 2-5 miles away. NOW...lets look at the pay side of this Aceeptance issue. just sunday morning i dropped off a passenger at the MGM grand. the MGM grand has ITS OWN SURGE BUBBLE, so the entire strip was bright red for surge, except MGM. so this lady that walked up to me and asked me why her app kept saying searching for a ride while clearly i declined every ride from the MGM and probably the lady that was having issues getting a ride watching me, as i did recognize it, her rating was high so no reason to pass over her for that aspect, but all i saw was cheap ride while weeding out a closer pickup. I decided to help her out, and rebooked her ride on her phone for her maybe the app was frozen or something. uber was charging $19.06 for the ride. $2.90 of that goes to the airport, and of course about $2 in fees and taxes. so basically $14.50ish is the actual FARE. i saw her ride pop up on my phone, meanwhile im SURROUNDED IN BRIGHT RED SURGE EXCEPT MGM, and her ride comes up as $5.45 for a 2 mile ride to the airport. meanwhile every other ride going to the airport at that time on the strip that is 2-5 miles are paying about $13-20. I took her ride, i knew she was gonna tip me very well for helping her and she was in a rush. but she saw the $5.45 and i said thats why you arent getting a ride, every other ride right now from every other strip property is paying 3-4 times that, and uber is charging you $19 and im getting 1/4 of that??? she tipped me $20 so i made the same or maybe more than just taking a surge ride, even if she tipped half of that it was still at least on par with what i would have made, not making an excuse for ubers trash pay on this situation or that they are taking 2/3 after fees and taxes.... so i made the same as a surged ride. and i only took it knowing she would tip well, it was quick and no traffic, and i felt bad for her getting screwed over. but normally i would never have taken that when surge was all over. she clearly understood what happened, and we had a chat about it like you often state stuff or sergio does etc. I would have cherry picked her ride again if we didnt interact. the point of that, is showing how ubers algo alone and how it works is screwing passengers, and add in how the pay is really contributing as well. passengers cant get a ride because of ubers algo, then throw in the pay issue, and ubers own system is so focused on screwing drivers in any and every possible way possible and its now having a massive effect on passengers and customer service in that aspect is taking its toll. i have also been seeing at times where theres surge, but it seems "slow", but when the surge map goes away, all the sudden a slew of base pay rides magically start pumping thru. are these people paying the surge rate and paying us base? probably. another issue with acceptance rate, but not really ubers problem here, is at events. I refuse to pickup at events. i will get 100% of the time the tarded person who cant be in the right spot, after i sat unpaid in traffic trying to get into the venue lot for 15-50 minutes depending on what event it is. then ill get the next ride, that pays half, and they are a no show too...then ill leave with a min paying ride. because of this, and im sure im not the only driver, decline 20 rides in a row or more to avoid that pickup at events because it literally isnt worth the headache and loss of money. i rather take 3 min paying rides during that hour and make the same overall with less stress and headache. so therefore there is an acceptance rating issue here in regards to high traffic event venues. this is not the majority, but it is a contributing factor and only in some areas as not everywhere has venues like vegas. my Acceptance rating ranges from 2-16% up and down but stays in that range 100% of the time. and it always depends on how stupid ubers algo wants to be for the day. if their algo worked in favor of drivers convenience, time, and not sending us trash distances for a pickup----without the low pay being a factor in choosing rides-----my AR rating would be closer to 40-60% just on that part alone! then factor in the pay, im declining most locals rides, and quite frankly im not taking any ride thats paying $14-20 thats 25 miles away to a dead area....my AR rating would probably be somewhere above 70%. i had AR as low as 1 ride out of 200 or a 0.5% one day because of the slew of trash paying, long distance pickup rides uber threw at me for over an hour! over an hour!!!! but i have also had days where i was sitting at 3-4% AR, and it shot up to nearly 20% for a moment because i was getting rides at my drop off, or easy to get to next property over, etc. but of course, that declined later when the algo wanted to be dumb again.

We need upfront fares with a decent split (e.g., 80/20) or a rate card. We also need to some transparency on commercial insurance. How can Wridz buy commercial insurance for a fraction of the cost Uber purports to have? Something is not adding up!

With the upcoming AR-based "Advantage Mode" requiring a minimum 25% acceptance rate Uber's AR crisis is going to continue. While much lower than DD's 50-70% AR requirements under Dasher Rewards I'm concerned how AR is being used with independent contractors. At least in part walling-off high paying offers behind AR requirements is very tricky thing with respect to worker classification.

I think the exact opposite since even with drivers having a low acceptance rate, there are still plenty of drivers out there that will accept the trip. So within a minute or two, the vast majority of pax will get a driver. Furthermore, based on the data from Minneapolis, most drivers accept most trips, and passenger wait times nationwide have decreased throughout the years too. As long as there is an oversupply of drivers, Uber won't have an "acceptance rate crisis."

Yes, rates we screwed up with upfront but at least I had the power to know where I'm going and deny anything that didn't at least pay $1 mile. The rate card in my market now is 68 cents a mile and 11 cents a minute. 68 cents! No one can cover their expenses with that. It's ridiculous. The only trips I accept now have to be really close to me like 5 mins away and have surge attached or it's impossible to make money at this gig. "Upfront fares was released nationwide about two years ago" Well guess what? It still hasn't been released in Western Mass (Springfield, etc.) as of July 12, 2024. Of course now, with the Mass settlement, Uber is going to be forced to give us pick=up, destination and earnings as soon as the settlement kicks in (sometime in August, I think). I've been screaming to them about this for years, since upfront pricing was released "nationwide" I once asked Uber why it never showed up in Springfield. Uber answered, "we're a growing company." Meanwhile, Lyft, a company about 1/10 Uber's size, had released it in Western Mass.

Eventually and provided the acceptance rate is above 85% It will tell you how long the trip is and in micro sized writing how far away the pick up is. 3 minute trip and 17 minutes to get there is laughable. I reject and it’s sent back to me seconds later and then again. Oh shit my acceptance rate is smashed. Now I use the coffee cup to prevent repeat offending. The acceptance rate is exclusively the companies fault for providing a majority of inequitable offers. Things like a $2200 timing chain job should give insight into why drivers aren't willing to accept a $5 trip unless it's within a mile and it would take less than 20 minutes to complete depending on the restaurant. They seem to think $4 for 20 miles is fair enough and assume the customer will tip the difference, but this isn't a casino where drivers gamble on gratuity.

My acceptance rate is 48% because I have an expensive car and can’t afford to take rides less than $20. How many $5 or $10 rides can I do in an hour, with the passengers making me wait five minutes extra, and with traffic and long red lights slowing me down? Not enough to keep the car on the road and pay my bills. I’m putting 10,000 miles/mo on my car - depreciating and destroying my property for less than $20/hr, before expenses. After expenses, it’s $10/hr or less. This company is going to put me into the homeless shelter. I’m too sick with chronic illnesses, injuries, and delayed surgeries to play these kinds of games. I won’t start taking rides less than $20. I won’t devalue myself for this company that’s investing millions into replacing me with robots. Uber does not and will never care about drivers. He knows if we all united together, really united together as one in a totally perfect world, we could take him out as the CEO of this company. Or even shut Uber down entirely. I think there are too many of us and I think with that number of angry drivers far outnumbering those who are satisfied with how the platform is working for them, he doesn't know how to both get what he wants and appease drivers monetarily at the same time because there isn't a way. One side has to be the dominant side. This is why he is afraid to go on the show, because he knows he'll be incinerated from minute one. He knows how polarizing he is.
