I just watched the movie Taxi Driver yesterday and I noticed that on the side of Robert De Niro's yellow cab door, the rates the taxi was charging: 65 cents per mile, in the mid 1970s, which are almost exactly what Uber Lyft are paying drivers in 2024 per mile (just 5 cents less). Let that sink in for a while.

I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this but I keep getting trip radar rides popping up and then if I don't accept it Uber will spit the ride out at me for a lower price Edit: to combat this what I do is when I see an unfavorable ride come through that takes me far away or something like multiple stops I will just immediately go offline before Uber has a chance to even send me the ride and then I'll just log back in after 20 seconds or so

Uber offers $12 to airport. It's 22 miles there and car gets 23 mpg. There and back gas cost me $8.50 that's $3.50 for an hour ride. Can't do it Uber, sorry.

Exactly and we used to get anywhere from at least $20-$40 for those rides. It just doesn't make any sense now. We got around 55-60% and now we get maybe 35-40% and uber gets 60-65% of earnings smh

Problem with acceptable rate is we can decide, if that trip is worth it. Because you're not only thinking about miles and time, but where am I going to end up at. A trip could be worth it, but I'm ending up in a dead area, now I have to drive miles before I'm back driving. So, is that bad, no, uber has to price the trips better. If we are going to end up in a dead zone pay a return premium. Or warrantee a trip out of the area. If not trip is accepted then the premium kicks in. But a minimum amount return trip out of the are not a $3 trip. For example, you're offered a trip 50 miles away from your working area, well a minimum of a 25 mile trip should be offered back to your area or a $25 or whatever premium is added to the trip. That's just one example, because there's a lot of different scenarios.

In line with your good suggestion, Uber does charge toll fee to rider when you cross a toll bridge in non toll direction. The assumption is you have to come back on toll direction. Driver gets the full fee. I never go back that direction unless I have a ride as I can loop around the Bay Area. So, I happily pick up extra $7-$9 on those trips. My riders complain about it so I tell them talk to Uber...if you can get ahold of them!

Upfront Fare means if you accept a ride, don't complain if you are under paid because it's your fault to accept it. This is the answer I got from Lyft support when I complained about very low pay (45 min ride for $14).

It requires them to pay enough money for gas for the vehicle. So many offers might break even on the cost. So therefore you aren’t making money and i once took a delivery where I lost money. I accidentally accepted it and if I say I will do it then it will get done. I learned from my mistake.

Also, I'm more than certain that it took more work to HIDE the passenger's destination from the driver than it took to reverse that bs illegal filter that should have never been there in the first place. As he said: independent contractors are supposed to be provided with the DETAILS of the job, and not just expected to do it like we're employees or something. If they expect us to be putting up with crap like that, they ought to be giving us all company vehicles to drive along with at least a modest salary + benefits. This is not a JOB for us - we are all running our own business and they either need to start treating their drivers as such, or start hiring their own private fleet in every city because they nor Lyft are operating within the confines of the law and it's infuriating that they continue to get away with it!

Also, before we didn't know where we were going, nor how much, so we were blind, BUT we were getting paid better. Now we know upfront we are getting rip-off, so, people are refusing the trips. Last week we were offered $4 to $4.50 extra per trip in Chicago, I don't know if everybody, but I was. My acceptance rate went up to 63%, we will accept trips if they are worth it. Even a 2 or 3 mile trip was worth it. As a matter of fact there was no small trips to choose, why, because everybody were taking them. So, I bet everybody's acceptance rate in Chicago went up. Incentives make a difference in wether drivers take or refuse trips.

It's the same in my area, however I work night's doing Uber and there aren't a whole lot of people doing Uber at night. I refuse to take anything less than 10 bucks that's not close. I am brand new to this and find it hard to believe they didn’t tell the drivers where they are going. What if the passenger wants to go four hours away? Some people can do that but most can’t. I have taken three trips today because the offers coming through make absolute no sense. It would actually cost me money so many of these offers. I only do Uber Eats and don’t know how people break even if they are taking most of the offers. I was short DASH two days ago and might have to short UBER soon. I am more confident shorting DASH but this company is in my crosshairs.

Stop Eats immediately!!! You lose on every trip. Think about the effort you put in... 1) in and out of car every trip to pick up and drop off. 2) leaving your car while illegally parked. 3) $3-$4 on most trips means you have to count on tips that you likely won't get much. A $1 tip is an insult. 4) the restaurant fees, the restaurant tip, and 3rd party fees eat up your chance for consistent tips. I did 4 Eats trips and made $14, including $3 in tips. 2 required me to walk 3 flights of stairs to "leave at door". NO THANK YOU!

So you get trip radar. Three dollar ride and you do four rides an hour. In 12 hours of driving you get. 48 customers at $3 a customer. So for seven days of driving at 12 hours a day you will have driven 336 customers. And you will have made $1008. 00 . So now you subtract let’s say $20 a day in gas. Now you’ve only made $868 for the week. Let’s say insurance is $100 a week for your vehicle. Now you’re down to $768 for the week. Hypothetically, you only spend $70 a week in food while you’re on the road working 12 hour days seven days a week so now you’ve only made $698 for the week. Everyone’s got their own numbers. But when you do these numbers, you realize you better start picking through rides. Don’t take everything they send you. And that’s Uber‘s problem if the acceptance rate is down. And it will get worse because we’re all in this mess together prices keep going up on everything you’re surrounded by except your paycheck working for Uber at the end of the week. Hell yeah, we need to lower, the acceptance rate even more for Dara give him a real challenge

Yea I realized a few weeks back that this scam he’s pulling with the drivers is way out of hand right now. Stopped driving entirely bcuz right now you’re literally paying Uber to drive. I drive in Las Vegas of all places and I’ve personally seen wages go from $1500 on weekends Friday thru Sunday, to $1200 after pandemic, to now making around 750-900 a weekend. Same hours. Same amount of rides given. Just they’re making sure we’re underpaid, but meanwhile, they’re definitely robbing the riders still.

Full time driver for 8 years. But this upfront b.s has me really questioning what's the plan for the gig economy. Because a race to the bottom is no good for anyone! I'm trying to explain to driver's that as an independent contractor quality over quantity all day long. Uber is actually forcing drivers to drive more once they took away the Quest bonuses. I averaged $400/month from Quests. If I want to make that back, I have to drive 15-20 more hours/month. I ain't gonna be a fool because I don't have to.

This trip Radar bs has gotta stop too. I just mentioned in your livestream earlier I had gotten a trip request to go from Buffalo to Rochester for only 59 dollars. That was a trip Radar request. I've gotten three trip Radar requests to drive anywhere between 90 to 110 minutes out to Rochester from Buffalo for 59 dollars, 65 dollars, and 74 dollars. Ignored all 3. 2 out of 3 of those, the riders rating was in the 4.7 range too. He'll nah. I also got the most egregious full blown uberx request to drive from Buffalo to Uttica for 160 dollars. That's an over 3 hour trip and 200 miles. I've been seeing these distance trips pop up way more frequently than I thought I'd see them too when I signed up last month for Uber. I'm definitely going to start screenshotting them as they come in from now on, to send to you guys.

Prices are controlled by an algorithm designed to standardize earnings for all drivers. The key is to work the appropriate number of hours - you'll earn similarly regardless of which rides you accept or decline.

Here in my city, there is NO information like the amount it will pay unless it is a reservation. Otherwise, it shows a useless map and a direction, such as north, that the trip will go, and the trip time, or time it will take from pickup to drop off. We have to wait until after the trip to see the amount it pays. I am in Springfield, MO and I also work in Branson, MO a lot, and that is our situation here. So I have to look at the trip time and decide from that, also for a premium pickup, meaning a long trip to the pickup. I literally had this guy wanting a ride across the freeway bridge from the hotel he was staying in to the truck stop he had his truck parked at. 10 miles on I-44 and then a one minute ride. For the most part, long trips are coming in at about $1.00 to $1.10 and if they decide to drop that to 1/2 or 50 cents, they can go out of business for all I care.

Hi Sergio upfront prices are the main part of Independent contractor but still missing more important thing i.e. in Uber once you accepted the trip Uber doesn't show details of trip until you finished. In Lyft it is opposite trip received till end you can check pick n drop address plus fare. Uber do not have any features like stay in the area or destination mode. Day by day drivers earnings are decreasing how can we says any new features brings better earnings this is completely lie day by day earnings are diminishing. I am not sure if Seattle Uber fare for drivers will be good or not but I can say it is at least better then current fair in Houston Tx. Sergio in your series add-on that, why Uber is not showing trip details after accepting trip. Second most important thing how much real insurance coverage driver get right we are blind not knowing what is our coverage.

Not a single thing will change until every driver shuts Uber down for 4 hours on a busy day nationwide and Uber doesn't make money. But that won't happen, coz 1, drivers won't see the bigger picture of doing it, they are all about instant gratification and money right now, 2) majority of drivers are truly uneducated and never saw what we used to have with Uber 7-10 years ago with proper surge and rate card etc Now you have desperate, uneducated drivers, who don't speak a lick of English, have no skills of any capacity to do another job driving for Uber. Over 50% of drivers are basically unemployable, not fit to drive people around and do not provide a service that equates to keeping passengers happy or on the platform.on the flip side, Uber has created this themselves as they only really care about the booking fee, that's their bread and butter make money. The rest is a liability once the driver starts the ride. Uber will not fix and at this point is incapable of fixing the broken system. There are too many bad drivers who shouldn't be driving. Until Uber caps the number of drivers also, absolutely nothing will change

I am in west palm beach, 99% of the offers I pass on. They are funny even putting that as an offer. I just deliver food but I’m not going to pay money out of my pocket to bring them the food. I get offers for 23 miles for 13$. Not only is that far but the traffic to get there would take at least an hour and that’s being generous. Then I have to get back to where I started. I guess they think we should sleep in the car until another order comes in to help you pay your way home.

I get offers to go to an airport 56 miles away for $38-$46. It used to pay at least $73 and as much as $109. I never used to see $3-$4 rides. Now it’s pretty common. No bonuses, rare surges , gas prices are double but Uber took away the 50 cent charge. 5 years of enjoying Uber but it’s impossible to make it as a full timer anymore.

I live in Virginia and drive Uber. There's a lot of areas that I just won't accept rides to anymore. I used to go to Norfolk and Portsmouth a lot when I first started with Uber last year. Being that I'm new to Virginia, being originally from NJ, I didn't know about the tolling system here. In NJ, I'm used to going through actual toll booths. They don't have those here in Virginia. I had no idea that there was a toll to go through the downtown tunnels for Norfolk and Portsmouth. Now I owe the state damn near $1,000 in unpaid tolls. Of course, Uber is not going to help me out with this, so I no longer go to those areas. I don't give a damn about an acceptance rate. On top of the tolls, it's just not worth it to go to those areas because there's construction going on on the major artery getting in and out of there and there's always some accidents taking place, blocking already restricted and reduced lanes. The last time I mistakenly took a ride to Norfolk from Newport News, I sat in traffic for almost 2hrs, due to an accident in a construction zone for a trip that only paid about $25. Never again!!

I drive Uber in Richmond VA. Fares have gone way down here. Occasionally I have taken trips to Norfolk and VA Beach and have been stuck in traffic a lot. They used to pay extra for that but now you're lucky to get 5 dollars more for 2 hrs extra. I like long trips when they pay well but the fares keep getting lower. Not sure how long I will do this here

Upfront fare attracts drivers the platform needs a constant surplus of drivers. Therefore they can reward different drivers at various times as in a casino to give the impression that sometimes a driver “wins.” Good days weeks etc are followed by slow. Upfront fare can still be offered very cheaply and the power Uber has with so many willing drivers desperate or unaware or both will snap them up. So every cheap trip they put out there is money in Ubers pocket & they will get their money every time best believe. If a driver refuses he or she will sit there. All about the power of numbers. Uber has that much power as long as multitudes are willing to ride along.

If you get the Uber CEO on your show please ask him to ride with one of our drivers for a week and not just in a city that pays Uber drivers better, but a city like Miami in South Florida where the cost of living has gone way up and Uber earnings are one of the lowest in the country in the rideshare business. I had an issue all weekend concerning reserved trips that were cancelled baceause UBER would continue to push rides on me, knowing I needed to keep my acceptance rate up above a certain percentage since I just made diamond for the first time and I had to maintain it for another two weeks to get the $400 bonus. The problem is if UBER shows me on a trip when the 40 minute window begins before the the reserved pickup time, it cancels the reserved trip even if I was two minutes from completing the trip and only 15 minutes away from the pickup. I am always contacting uber after long trips where I am earning less the 67cents per mile. I explain to the reps in the Philippines that the IRS requires I earn at least 67 cents per mile and if I don’t, I am basically writing a check to uber for the difference. After they hear this from enough drivers, I hope they re-program the algorithm to pay at 67 cents per mile and 25 cents per minute.

been getting "something went wrong" pop-up messages from time to time. i click to accept the ride and. then get that stupid message. they ask for a screenshot. the message pops up for literally 2 seconds/disappears. too fast to even try to get it and ot becomes a safety issue trying to get ot and drive. rhen my acceptance rate drops because it thinks i declined the trip, when in actuality i accepted it. my AR went from 93% to 65%. screw them. im not working harder for them when they cant help me. i get a request for $18.67, accept it, "something went wrong" pops up, ride drops out and another ride comes in seconds later for $4.03. not taking it. so now in the span of 10 seconds, i missed two rides and my AR takes a hit. of course when i tell them they give me the standard answer to uninstall/reinstall yada,yada, yada....

It's not the 5% pay bump that is attractive for advantage versus standard. The 5% doesn't matter. If you're not being offered rides then you can't decline rides. Every time you are offered a trip radar ride that you accept that goes towards your acceptance rate. Trip radars that you don't accept do not go against your cancellation rate. Advantage versus standard is just to hide acceptance rate. Drivers will still see the same horrible paying trip radars and not accept them just like they wouldn't accept them if they were offered directly. And if those win against the acceptance rate the acceptance rates would remain low. But because it doesn't go against the acceptance rate but when you accept one of those trip radars it goes towards your acceptance rate it will naturally bring acceptance rates up. My first day with advantage versus standard, I was offered only two trip radars which I did not get either one. The airport is dead to me now. I get offered nothing from the airport. I already knew that Uber was not going to be a sustainable job for me much longer. Advantage versus standard pretty much just ended it. I'm literally not working tonight because I'm applying for jobs.

I can't even do Uber anymore. My last 3 days of work I've only done one Uber ride and a total of 30 hours. I am only offered trip radar rides and it doesn't really matter how busy it is. Even when I am the only driver in the area the ride comes up as a trip radar first then they offer it to me directly after I don't accept it on trip radar. My acceptance rate has actually gone down since standard and advantage was implemented. The trip radar rides are complete pathetic joke and I'd rather make no money then $15 an hour with somebody in my car. My friends in Austin are working for $10 to $18 an hour right now. Exclusive rides are paying about 20 to $25 an hour one way. Since there's not going to be any connecting rides that means you're making $10 to $12:50 an hour.

In the last 9 months, my acceptance rate dropped from 95% to 55%. Why? No Quest $'s to offset lower paying rides and ride volume doesn't matter anymore. The cherry picking on rides results in more hours on line but 1 $30 ride in 45 minutes is better than 4 $6 rides in 1 hour. I let those $4-$6 rides go to someone else.

In the summer time when it's slow we have every driver accepting everything and fighting for every. $2.75 offer. Every ping on trip radar gets snatched up in a millisecond by the desperados. It's dreadful. No acceptance rate problems around my area. That's for sure.

I make 65% less by using upfront pricing. I only drive in cities that still use mile and minute rates. My favorite city to drive in was paying $1.17 a mile. Uber just changed it to $.40 a minute 😤😡😠🤬
