There will always be a soft spot in my heart for Graves. What he did with the Misfits was truly amazing and filled a gap the band truly needed during that strange time in music. He was better than Danzig, The whole band was better with Graves. The songs were better written; more technical, better harmonies, riffs, and vocal arrangements. I grew up on the original Misfits, but when this album came out I instantly knew it was better. It doesn't mean the old Misfits weren't great. Danzig did have better lyrics in my opinion.
@Disciple0fMetal6 жыл бұрын
I agree. I enjoy his voice. When I first heard graves as a teen, I was actually also really getting into priest and maiden and all that good stuff so I was getting accustomed to hearing operatic voices with melody. Now, graves is nowhere near them BUT he had this unique sounding voice for what he was doing. different from glenn. Glenn has melody but I think graves had the range and that allowed them to expand their sound.

I actually like the record American Psycho, but they should have just called the band that. Without Danzig, there is no Misfits. Danzig and Only were not Lennon/McCartney or Jagger/Richards. Glen started the band with a different bass player. He came up with the name, the image, wrote 100% of the music and lyrics. It is more like someone trying to keep Nine Inch Nails going without Trent Reznor, or Foo Fighters without Dave Grohl.

@@Thebeastfromnorth75 I know you already said you agree, but just to leave a comment for others to read: there's perfection in imperfection. Same statement applies when you try to analyze music from a theory perspective: does theory / staying in key matter over playing something that sounds good to the song writer? If we were all perfect, music would be bland imo and we definitely wouldnt anything artistic from Michale Graves

this is the only time that the audience singing hasn't ruined the song. in fact, it made it quite beautiful.

I would be freaking out if I saw this live. Great job.

Yeah, Doyle couldn't play those guitars (the intro/ending). Losing Michale was a big blow for the Misfits.

Punk is punk! You dint need palm picking or tune voice
@humantacos98008 жыл бұрын
You don't, but one shouldn't sacrifice quality/skill just for the sake of fitting a genre's parameter. It happens too much in punk and black metal.

+Human Tacos Michael Graves didn't really play for then tho. Neither did Danzig and both new guitar.
@humantacos98008 жыл бұрын
Elijah Padilla Doyle said Danzig wrote all the guitars for early music, and clearly Michale wrote a lot of guitars for his two albums; they just didn't play live.
