I truly love the Henry Repeater! I've run BP handloads ( 25/28gr GOEX FFg, Acc 43-215C ) and a LOT of Smokeless ( Unique & TiteGroup, RCBS #44-200 ). I also made a relatively accurate sling for it. They are deceptively heavy, but balance well. We occasionally have "too much breeze" over in No. Colorado, but I still enjoy getting out... Bravo!

Awesome! Lonesome Dove might be the best western novel ever! In the book, McCray carries a Dragoon pistol, not a Walker. There’s also no mention of it being converted (Gus thinks about replacing it with a new Colt near the end of the novel). He ends up smacking more people with it than he ever shoots I think. I don’t think the author really knew very much about period firearms though. Throughout the novel, the Henry rifle is talked about like it’s a big, almost mythical, powerhouse of a rifle, in comparison to Winchesters.

I used to shoot one in 44/40 with 200 grain bullet,was a metric uberti one.Dont get to hot .The bolt that cocks hammer humped up had to take it out and turn it down.SAE versions later might be better but still brass frame.I slugged barrel wanna say mine was .429 been a long time.keep your powder dry.good luck enjoy!

i used too shoot 200gr loads in this and used trail boss. did good for when i shot it. but never tried 300yds

I'm interested anUberti 1860 Henry in 45LC with a 24" barrel There's a line of demarcation around the circumference of the octagonal barrel with what maybe a different shade of blueing on either side of the line. The flats edge seem to be slightly off The line is about 4"-6" from the muzzle. Is this a seam in the barrel? Was this a way to lengthen the barrel? Please advise Thank you Fred

So what is the load that duplicates the 44 rimfire?

26 grains of 3f and a 200 grain flat point bullet. Is about as close as you can get in 45 colt
