Just got mine today as well. Everyone was saying Wifi 6 doesn't help single devices speed much just overall speeds of the connected devices. I kind of disagree at least in my case I'm seeing 100-150mbps faster speeds and better connections on single devices.

Was hoping this video would show configuring this without a controller vs with...not everyone will have a dream machine setup in advance.

same here, all the videos i find has a controller. all im trying to do is set up using the ISP supplied router, and just trying to extend the wifi. edit: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5Wai5uIfrykh68 this video does it with an existing router and he goes step by step, using the mobile app. really good

Thanks! I've installed several of these, and I'm having trouble with one, but I couldn't remember what the removal tool looked like. I see it there at 1:38 so now I can find mine and fix my problem. (Three unboxing videos I just watched simply set aside the unopened packet of parts!) You never know what detail in your videos someone will find helpful.

You should probably mention that UniFi6 AP are not compatible with Unifi Cloud Key G1, which is now EOL. So just bought one of these and now need to spend additional $200 for Cloud Key G2 Plus. Would have gotten an older unit if knew that...

Hi, I have a question please. Can I buy one of these and use it without any other sort of ubiquity equipment (cloud Key/dream machine ecc...)? It can be configured using the network app on a PC / Smartphone or It is mandatory to use a ubiquiti controller?
@cpF012 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this. I just bought one... with the hoe to extend my Shaw WiFi service, and stabilize coverage in my house. The Shaw cable modem/ wifi / router combo is way down in the mechanical room in my basement. My hope it that this unit will work for my application. I have no other Ubiquiti equipment, but I've ran CAT5E and I've got a PoE injector and an 8 port 100/1000 ethernet hub. The goal to just log into the local wifi ssid and not have to change endpoints as you move around the house.
@imperialdoggo5826 Жыл бұрын
You can move Shaw stuff. I also use Shaw.

Nice video! I wonder if I can just get the plastic protective cover and paint it same color of my roof, instead of buying the specific (and expensive) plastic cover from Ubiquiti.

No. You can use the app, which is Unifi Network.

It’s pretty much like that, but you can also purchase a console for control and ease of use.

What's the point though with a WiFi 6 access point if it only has a single gigabit Ethernet port? Thanks for the video though, will be interesting to see your speed test results with this.
@GeekSmart3 жыл бұрын
The wireless connection is faster than the previous generation, and the single wired port is a Gigabit port.
@TechOut3 жыл бұрын
No one who would be using a $99 access point would really have a 10G setup. Sure the port on the AP is Gigabit but likely the switch on the other end is as well. Along with the modem and any other devices. So the port on the AP isn't slowing anything down. They do make APs and switches with faster ports. This "lite" product isn't for that market.
@marksapollo3 жыл бұрын
@@GeekSmart Yes but if WiFi 6 devices can hit 7gbps then why put a 1 gbps port on the access point? It seems to be built to restrict the speeds you could gain. Surely a 10 gbps port makes more sense especially from Ubiquiti?
@marksapollo3 жыл бұрын
@@TechOut The modem makes no difference as no one has 6gbps internet yet. Not the main stream anyway. A lot of Ubiquiti kit seems to have ports faster then 1gbps though. Just seems pointless to me.
@TechOut3 жыл бұрын
@@marksapollo the modem does matter. If you only have a gigabit port on the modem what's the point of having a faster one on the AP. Only time it would matter if for LAN connections. But again everything on the LAN would need faster than gigabit for it to matter.

Does the switch have to be one of Ubiquity's own or is just any switch ok?
@imperialdoggo5826 Жыл бұрын
Use ubiquiti, or you risk shorting the equipment. Example being netgear uses pairs 1-2, 3-6, compared to ubiquiti using 4-5 and 3-6.

Hi. This AP can connect to a different main router (Dlink) and act as a Repeater or do I need the UniFi 6 router for this AP? Thank you.
@DiamondCrustArmy3 жыл бұрын
Yes, as long as you have a POE line to it. Also, you need the UniFi controller software installed somewhere to configure. To use as a repeater set the same settings as your DLINK wireless configurations.
