How to Repair the Gas Door on a 2017 Toyota Sienna

Man!!!! Totally fixed the problem for my 2016 and the door even stays flush with the body now! Thanks for this! I’m still going to take mine to dealership and ask for a proper fix

I had the same issue on my 2015. The zip tie seems to have fixed the problem. At least as you said, I can live with it! Thank you!

Great simple fix - works well enough, saves lot of money and/or work. Now carrying a spare zip tie in the van just in case lol

I paid way to much about 4 years ago when I let Toyota replace the gas cover. This saved me a couple hundred dollars from doing it again 😊

Just did this on my 2014 sienna. Not perfect but practically free on only took a few minutes.

Apparently Toyota was doing a free repair on "x" model siennas. Including mine. But it was timed. Mine broke after their repair period. This should be a safety recall since it causes an entire door to not function properly on the automatic doors.

Installed two zip ties. Now the fuel door pops open like a jack in the box. I still have the problem with mechanical side door lock out actuator. It requires too much force to overcome the lockout which over time destroys the fuel door hinge.

It’s common on ALL TOYOTAS. Not just the Siennas.

I'm use stainless steel wire instead of zip-tie. I hope it's ok.

The sensor that tells the van that the gas door is open is waaaayyyy to stiff. This is why over time it brakes it.

I painted my black door to match my Sienna. I tried taking the door to a Toyota dealer to have them install it and they said no…😡. Because i didn’t buy it from them and i painted it they wouldn’t install the door.🙄. I’ll have to find that rivet gun and rivets
