I just started a new job. My office was still being cleaned when I arrived so my sponsor told me to grab a seat in a cubicle space that was a few feet from my future office. So she asks me “Are u sitting in this cubicle?” I say: “Yes; I’m sitting here right now!” She laughs and goes “No; I mean are you new here did someone tell u to sit here?”... And yes; I was told I could sit here until my office (I point to the office) is finished being cleaned” she goes “What happened to (insert name of white guy here)” I tell her I’m the new Security Manager for this facility....who are you?” She turns as red as a tomato and goes - well this space is ours and you are in it. I respond “Are you expecting anyone in the next five minutes?” Her response: “Well no but it’s just ours!”... I ask her what her name is “She says Judy.” I say are you government or contractor Judy?” She goes “I’m a contractor”... I tell her “As a contractor - “None of this space is yours!!! Secondly- if you’re not expecting anyone and I’m not sitting in assigned space - what’s the problem?” Before she could finish...I tell her “Once I move into that office - this space will be free does that work for you?” So she doubles down “Well where is (Insert name of white guy here) going?” I tell her “He works for me now and he’ll be sitting in another space” - “He works for you now!?” I’m having fun at this point “Yes - he does!” And since you’re a contractor, not my superior (I used that word on purpose) and have nothing to do with my business/ this conversation is over!” I stared her down. And when she tried to say something else. I turned my back on her. She huffed and walked away. I laughed loud enough so she could hear it. I’ll keep my eye on her - trust me family. I’m well versed in workplace racism and ready for the BS!

What happened was neither kidnapping or false imprisonment by common law nor any state statute. They were blocked from entering the complex.. not confined or restrained or transferred against their will... they had the option to move or leave so doesn’t constitute kidnapping.
