Your videos and instructions are fantastic and very thorough. I think it's wonderful that you are using your dad's tools. Based on your video, I realized I bought upholstery cording. Where do you buy your mop cording? I'm also looking for a continuous roll of tan zipper. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for sharing your expert skills.

I suspect that "mop cording" may be a term used inside professional circles because I'm not finding it in my google search.

Hi there, i am a young upholster and i just got my first slipcover job, a bit nerve wracking as I have done many things but not this before. Your videos are very useful and well made, thank you very much. Im just wondering how much you would charge for the type of sofa slipcover you are doing now? It's hard to tel how much time if will take. Thanks again for your generosity sharing your knowledge, it's very hard to find training these days especially s good as this.

+Beatrice Champ Hi Beatrice, Yes I understand your situation. First thank you for letting us know how much you liked the video and letting us know. If you can do upholstery you'er well on your way to making a great looking slipcover. I started with covers and then moved to upholstery.It's great to hear you have taken up the trade. So on to your question, which is a tough one. Our price for labor only is $600. without any extras when needed. Velcro, sleep-sofa zipper, throw pillows. arm-caps. This does not include pick-up and delivery IF that is the route you want to take, that is cutting the cover in your shop not at the clients home. I have heard of many pros charging the same amount as re-upholstering. The best is to do what you are doing, ask companies in your area. It really depends on your time and effort to complete the cover (know your desired hourly rate) compared with what the market will allow. It can be a great added extra income. Remember stripes and prints will slow you down, you might want to pass on these until you're comfortable. I am really glad you asked and I hope this helped. Success to you. Cheers, Paul

+ucsolutions Thanks for taking the time to reply! And thanks again for your video, the slipcover came out very well. You seem very cheap compared to prices around here, someone told me it's more like around 1000$ and I am in the South of France. Thanks again!

I cut my welt material on the wrong fold...will it still work?
@ucsolutionsgivingmore
@ucsolutionsgivingmore 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Sue, An easy way to tell is to unfold the fabric and see if the welt is still running diagonally across the fabric. If it isn’t then that means the welt was cut on the straight and not the bias and will most likely snake.

Hi, Can you help me please? I m doing an abby sofa from model M&S made how much fabric do i need more or less as is 1.45 cmm wide? or how much fabric you using with the sofa are you covering in the video? Thanks
@ucsolutionsgivingmore
@ucsolutionsgivingmore 10 жыл бұрын
Stefania Mason Nice question the amount of fabric I am using in the video is about 15 yards. So in a solid fabric a slipcover using a pattern is 16 to 18 yards with the fabric being 54" wide. This should cover a sofa of average size with 6 total cushions plus a skirt and cording. If you have a pattern to match on your fabric(same size sofa) 18 to 21. Here's what to look for, if the arms on the sofa are very big and/or the cushions are wide and deep go with the higher number of fabric ( these can can take a lot of fabric). You can save on the amount of fabric underneath the cushions or by using a contrast cording fabric, if you want cording at all. Thanks for asking and watching. Cheers Paul

Do you make the pattern for only half of the sofa and use that same pattern for the other half?
@ucsolutionsgivingmore
@ucsolutionsgivingmore 10 жыл бұрын
tiladios Yes that's right the pattern is half the sofa's full length. With your top fabric folded in half you will be cutting the other side as well.
