The June 4th 1989 students' campaign event wasn't totally for western democracy. It's mainly for anti corruption of communist officials after Deng's capital revisionism. The method of those students used were more like red guards used in culture revolution because their thinking were based on Mao's education.

At the Teheran and Yalta wartime conferences, however, Roosevelt asked Stalin if he would break his pact with Japan and enter the Far East war. Stalin agreed, but attached conditions. He demanded that America completely equip his Far Eastern Army for the expedition, with3,000 tanks, 5,000 planes, plus all the other munitions, food, and fuel required for a 1,250,000-man army. Roosevelt accepted this demand, and 600 shiploads of Lend-Lease material were convoyed to the USSR for the venture.

6. Re-established the Unequal Treaties abolished by the Republic of China. Stalin imposed the so called Freindship Treaty n the meantime, Russian colonial administrators, so called 'advisors' replaced Chinese. Chinese facilities and factories were replaced with dysfunctional Russian ones. The blueprints from Russia were flawed, and their 'advisors' were either stupid and ignorant, or deliberately misleading. As a result, Chinese economy suffered irreparable damages

This is the first objective critical thinking on Mao I heard from west society. While we have been brain washed by fox day by day using the blind attack on Mao and communism, it is impressive to get to know such deep and insightful research on Mao in the US.

. Stalin’s Far Eastern Army swiftly received more than twice the supplies we gave Chiang Kai-shek during four years as our ally. “General Douglas MacArthur protested after discovering that ships designated to supply his Pacific forces were being diverted to Russia. Major General Courtney Whitney wrote: “One hundred of his transport ships were to be withdrawn immediately, to be used to carry munitions and supplies across the North Pacific to the Soviet forces in Vladivostok….

Marx and Lenin never wanted a centralized state, communism is a state less ideal. The Soviet system is about decentralized rule by democratic elected workers councils. Because of the civil war and the rise of stalinism, the USSR became a deeply centralized state but this was never part of Lenin's ideals. Lenin said in 1917; All powers to the soviets, he never said all powers to the communist party. The communist party was to be the vehicle for the most revolutionary workers, but never a force to rule over workers. Stalin abused the bureaucratic deforms which were a result of the civil war and he used the right-wing of the party against the left-wing ( Leon Trotsky ). Mao Zedong in China copied Stalin system. Both men never wanted genuine socialism, for them it was a propaganda ideology used to keep the masses in line! The alternative for China is not more capitalism, but genuine socialism. Chinese workers must rise up and crush the Chinese ''Communist'' Party and take power for themselves. But in order for this they need a party on a socialist program. Revolutions can happen spontaneous, but win out a party to lead the workers the masses can be mislead into supporting capitalist leaders. This we saw in Russia in 1991 with Boris Yeltsin. Chinese workers must not trade bureaucratic state bosses for capitalist bosses, unfortunate many are already slaves to capitalists. So a political revolution is needed to remove the new bourgeoisie from power! Roderick MacFarquhar is right that workers will rebel. But in his views the only alternative for China is more capitalism. This is what all western educated people think. But more capitalism will not bring democracy and freedom. Capitalism does not need it as China shows us. Western capitalists like the People's Republic of China and their state-capitalist leaders who oppress workers and bans free trade unions!

Interesting - two of the things he mentioned that he didn't see happening, has happened since 2005 when this talk was given. I believe in the past few years, they have started to develop a Blue Water Navy. Likewise, there have been "experiments" taking place in Shanghai with elections...

I agree Comrade, often Mao is associated with bureaucrat state capitalism, but read what he actually writes he is warning of bureaucrat capitalists as in USSR under Kruschev and reformism. "[if the enemy came in] the Marxist-Leninist Party would undoubtedly become a revisionist party or a fascist party, and the whole of China would change its colour." How right Chairman Mao was... i cannot think of a better description of the current CCP.

"Wage Slavery" is just as if saying farmers have "Food Slavery". You have to compare China's path and the progress made by Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea. The Chinese People's Volunteers could easily beat the South Koreans militarily in the 1950s, and the country was richer than SK in the 1950s. You try that in 1976? The country fell behind during the Mao years.

"Mao Tse Tung was to carry out Stalin's plan to..." Hahaha! As if Stalin had any influence on Mao. Mao and the Chinese Communists were revisionists who had their own revisionist and class collaborationist, anti-proletarian line that caused lots of conflict with the SU's CP.

No, it is a cult. It encourages people to stay away from medicine all together in favour of meditation. As people meditates, they will eventually awaken their third eye on their forehead. The third eye is all seeing and will be able to see into the past as well as into the future limited only by the power of the practitioner.
