Our bodies are dynamic ecosystems housing trillions of microbes that, while invisible to the naked eye, play a critical role in shaping human health. Scientists are beginning to understand the superpowers the microbiome holds. In this program, Susan Lynch, Ph.D., director of the Benioff Center for Microbiome Medicine, explains research into the microbiome and how infant microbiomes influence childhood health. Recorded on 05/03/2022. [7/2022] [Show ID: 38129]

My son was born threw C-section but was developing like other kids. Around 18 months he had a very bad gastro infection and shortly after he started regression. He had countless ear and throat infections and was treated with many courses of antibiotics. At 4 years was diagnosed with ASD. Comprehensive stool analyses found C. Difficil 10% of total gut bacteria percent. He was treated with Vicomycin and probiotics in addition to gluten, sugar and process free diet. 3 months later started speaking again.

"Let's Have Healthy Children", written by Adelle Davis in the 70's was a [successful] precursor in positively assisting infants with "allergies", especially "premature" babies born to healthy parents...

Probiotic in babies maybe have no effect later because they had a bad microbiome due to the parents bad habits (unknown to parents). Non fermented food with a long shelf life is often cheap but may contain fungus and bacteria killing substances that affect microbiome.

What a great resource @UCTV is! Dr. Lynch did an excellent job of explaining microbes and their impact on human health to a layman, as I am. 😊

Born with politic valve stenosis I was fed through my ankles until the 5 th week when the doctor decided to operate. Saying I would not last another day not keeping down milk was the reason for exploratory surgery. Doctor guessed correctly, opening my pyloric valve. Wonder if that is why I have had lower gut problems since my late 20s?

Very, very good. If anybody reads this that can give me a link I would be so interested if the variables of vitamin D status or toxins that come the way of a needle where ever looked at. Thank you for such a great lecture.

Another excellent contribution to the field of microbiome studies. As an OB/GYN I am particularly interested in how delivery methods affect Biome profiles and clinical outcomes of infants. Any references to vaginal seeding studies that are ongoing would be greatly appreciated as this is of particular interest to me.

Q: What is the mechanism of action during infant breast-feeding between healthy mother and a premature infant who develops "allergies" (colic and respiratory probs) whenever the mother eats a specific food, e.g., carrots? Thanks.

Diet from human ancestors - mostly carnivore diet: meat and fruit like berries. Not vegetables. This explains why disease is largely responsible because of the introduction of a variety of vegetables. Focus on meat and fruit would create a microbiome suitable for strong immunity against diseases especially the current pandemic

there are approximately 40 times more precursors for tmao in fish meat compared to red meat. why aren’t you talking about fish as causing atherosclerosis but talking red meat for causing atherosclerosis. these associational studies are hilarious.
