Cool video man - I'd love to know more about using Unreal Insights to profile net performance. The netprofiler tells you a lot about which properties are being replicated etc, but it gives you almost nothing in regards to dropped packets and network exhaustion. In other words, if your game is performing badly across a network, it'd be great to know why, rather than just having a huge list of all the stuff that replicated and when.

Yeah 🤘 I'll definitely need to devote a video to the netprofiler I think optimization in general doesn't get enough love

My main problem with it is that often most of the frame budget spent on "wait for task" or other shit that doesn't reference any actual blueprints, how am i supposed to fix it. Also, you mentioned i can run it for a packaged game or in standalone mode, how do i do that if there is no button to do so?

In those cases you use the command line by hitting the ~ key and doing the commands Trace.Start and Trace.Stop As far as the wait for task what that means is during that frame something was going on that meant something that only ticks once a frame was "waiting for tasks" you can mostly ignore it just understand the more you see it the more expensive something else is on that tick

@@Spacemarine658 Hey man, thanks for your video! I'm not sure I understand the "use the command line" part, because how does that help me see what blueprints are causing things? Isn't it the same as pressing the trace button? Like the other user I'm struggling a bit because I see a bunch of things taking up time but clicking all the way through the trees, there's nothing I recognize and I don't see a way to open them or do anything about it. I've found some entry about niagara collisions for example, but can't tell where that's coming from.

@@Gravedrinker I was talking about a packaged build in your case you'll want to look into what would cause Niagara Collisions (IE particle systems usually)
