The stick movement drill is being done by Ido Portal. He is a movement guru and trainer. He combines a number of movements from martial arts and parkour, dance and kettlebell work. Bit more complex but that's it. This stick exercise is identical to Systema Russian Martial Arts, except for the capoeira movements and we are quite a bit more replaxed. Conor is smart to use movement training. It is 3 dimensional way of training the body. Instead of weights or linear exercises using complex, dynamic fluid movements with breathing exercises to help relax the body to move better. Conner is a great mma fighter but is new to these fighting principles of using breathing to be the engine for your movement. This gives more speed and power and clear thinking without fear.

I feel that this Ido Portal guy is trying to capitalize on McGregors fame. I've seen him before and he has a small following, he's trying to bring his ideology to the mainstream. I don't think this guy is gonna help him in mma. You watch this warm up that they are doing and crawling on the ground, avoiding sticks and what not and then you watch him spar. There is nothing with this ideology in Conors sparring. He should not be taking any advice from this fitness guru in any way regarding a fight. I think he's trying to build a bigger following and using Conor to get it. He needs Conor but Conor doesn't need him.

+J7A2M9E5S Not really. The fight purse is 500,000 for Aldo plus a win bonus and 300,000 for Conor plus a win bonus. The only difference is Conor's PPV tier-based contract. Both guys are going to make a couple million each, except like Aldo said, Conor is doing all the work leading up to the fight.
@bileductable
@bileductable 8 жыл бұрын
+John James I never said Conor won't be making more money, neither did Aldo. Aldo is fine with making less than Conor because it will still be heaps. The point is that Aldo is making money from Conor's work and the UFC promotion focusing on Conor, a point that Aldo finds pretty sweet.

You know what's funny. I haven't been able to stop watching McGregor videos because he's such an entertainer and his antics make him likable. He's so confident that he makes you believe almost anything that comes out of his mouth and people find security it that. Not only do they enjoy it, they can see he believes it so they do as well. But when It comes down to it, this guy Aldo has remained silent while conor has talked relentlessly. Nothing against Conor but I'm just saying. I know Conor's not one to feel the pressure as much as a normal person, but you know there is still a piece of "what if" or doubt in the back of his brain, as well as Aldo. It would cross your mind, if just for one second, of any human in the world. Aldo is mean as a pitbull, relentless, and is the current champion. There's no love loss between these two and you can almost see the fire in Aldo's eyes sometimes how bad he wants to shut Conor's mouth. It's going to be interesting, but I think people may be riding the McGregor train a little much. Aldo is like that strong silent type minding his business at the bar when a drunk gets froggy and runs his mouth to the wrong dude. Should be interesting, can't wait!

As much as I wanna see this guy lose, I can't imagine him losing to Aldo. The size difference is just too big. Dude's clearly a stiff and his capoeira shows that and not as skilled as Aldo. But I reckon he'll just overpower him on the ground or knock him out with strikes because of his longer reach.

I'm a big Connor fan, but all these Portal training drills seem whack. If they release a vid where Portal is going full speed trying to destroy Connor with the stick while the latter is dodging with these slick moves, THEN I would say it would help him in the fight. Jose's not gonna move in slo mo.

+Nam Pham In order to go full speed you need to progress.......Mcgregor said he is a white belt in movement.....hes just learning principles right now

+Nam Pham do you think punching pads really fast and strongly would help? Movement, balance and form are extremely important and underrated. "Be like water".

+Nam Pham the point isnt to be going full speed or even trying to hit connor.

Martial arts are often practiced in slow motion like this. So who cares if you aren't impressed. You don't know anything, that's why you aren't impressed.

If Conor was a bit more humble I'd love to see him win today but because he has such disrespect for Aldo from day one I'd love nothing more than for him to get knocked the fuck out. No matter what sport you're in you should respect your opponent, especially if they're the current champion of said sport.

McGregor talks the talk but he BACKS IT UP!! Trash TALK is part of the game to sell more PPVs, get inside your opponent's head etc. This fight got upto $10million (MMA record) pot coz of that. He probably is a good guy in person.

Öksana R I agree trash talk is 100% part of the sport but there's a difference between trash talk and having a complete lack of respect for your opponent e.g. moments like when Conor grabbed the belt of Jose in a press conference, that is just blatant disrespect and you wouldn't see it in any other sport. You would never see a team take the trophy before the match and start parading it around the field.

+paddy mcg I know he crossed the line a bit regarding the belt incident but he accomplished (mess with Aldo's head) what he was trying to do since day 1. Analyze the fight yourself. Aldo should've focused on grabbing & slamming him to play ground game(like Mendes who nearly won). Instead of that, Aldo aggressively attacked to k.o Conner & got counter k.o. McGregor plotted & executed his plan to PERFECTION. I'm not even McGregor fan but admire his rages to riches story. Unreal attitude & mentality
