"I felt when we stared down, I felt his right hand was twitching, which was a subtle tell for me. He is ready to unload that right hand and I feel that will be a downfall for him. if he lets that right hand go, I will not be there. I simply enter the way I enter, and that is enough, they either overextend or they shrink away, but either way it is not good for them. I will create traps and dead-space inside that octagon and i will walk him into that dead space, but all of a sudden he will be in danger. We will collide in the middle of the octagon and José will fall on the first exchange" - Conor McGregor

I love McGregor not just because I'm from Ireland but because the man is amazing, he calls it and does it. I was really impressed with the way he acted after the fight just pure class, people can say what they want but he did it and he's champ. The only fighter fear for Conor would be Khabib at 155. No matter how good the stand up is Khabib takes you down he's probably going be champ soon but hey hopefully I'm wrong right now I'll enjoy this era of Conor McGregor. 2016 looks bright
@zenmasta1260

I've analyzed McGregor and he absolutely uses visualizations, meditation and the power of positive thinking in addition to his MMA training regime. It actually goes much further than just conventional positive thinking you actually have to fully convince yourself via subconscious suggestion and other methods to the point where it becomes your reality. McGregor mentioned in an interview that nothing can break his mindset and I believe him. This is why I love watching sports, because of the mental game. Most athletes don't consider the mental game as important as physical training but I would argue it is more important. Muhammad Ali is another great fighter that really had one of the best mental games in the history sports. Jordan absolutely had a killer mindset which is why he NEVER lost in the NBA finals. You can look at Jose Aldo's entire aura and you can see he had many doubts in himself, he was beaten well before the fight started. He was a good champion but not great because great champions can raise their mental toughness when it is necessary in order to win. Aldo was in a state of desperation and McGregor completely owned Aldo just because of the high confidence he had in himself.

Aldo was a GREAT champion you idiot, 7 title defenses, including one against Frankie Edgar in a superfight ! something not even Conor has done yetbtw, all that positive thinking & believing something, that is all well & good & does help, but at the end of the day, ANYTHING can happen, he moves up to lightweight, or welterweight, there are plenty of dudes that can catch him with a clean shot & KO him. He isn't invincible.

I have to say, you guys have such spot on insight You didn't leave anything out, even the way that Chris Weidman let his ego get the better of him which probably made him throw that spin kick. The way you've analyzed Conor's overall skill is just amazing, it's not about his physical skill, it's about his approach, and you are right, it will change everything. The people he fights against are better after fighting him and losing to him, because his mind breaks people. Conor said this himself and it was interesting to think about.

For Rockhold, those of us who were paying attention when Luke beat Jacare and Tim Kennedy, we knew he was a beast. Then blasting through Bisping and Machida, and now seizing the title with scary dominance.Now he's shined on the big stage. I look forward to seeing Rockhold dominate Romero. don't make excuses. aldo is like 200 years old in fighting years. AND he hasn't fought in years. nobody wondered about that? you can't do well at something that you don't actually do. and i of course find myself making excuses. forgot all the mind games and aldo not being aldo. conor committed to a no win situation. aldo wasn't over extending. he threw a murderous punch that anyone else in their right mind would have blocked, dodged or dropped from. conor went for his own. no chance to dodge the oncoming train and he threw his own. you guys saw how powerful aldo's punch was even though he was out before it landed. This was the story of an old gunslinger vs a young one.

+schpoingle Aldo is not even 30 yet. Yes he has many fights, but Fedor was on a 30-something winning streak when he finally lost. I think Aldo's biggest mistake was he underestimated Connor's power by taking a punch to throw one of his own. Though I don't want to make excuses, he should have thrown a few jabs, kicks, smaller punches and hung back and sized up his opponent more. Hey lets see him fight another top feather weight and see how he progresses and also loses from this lost.

Conor is a beast, but Jones is by far the scariest fighter in the UFC. As for Conor's predictions, it's like Dennis Rodman was a consumate studentof basketball and studied hours of film to become the greatest under-sized rebounder in NBA history. He learned every trajectory of every shooter on his team and many on the opposing teams. He "knew" where the ball would bounce when ever the ball was shot and would position himself for the rebound while the ball was in the air. Conor studies the tendencies of present and future opponents. He studies what they like to do and what it looks like when they do it. He studies the set ups and the angles they take. He reviews this over and over in his head until he "knows" it. That's how he's able to call his shots. That's how he's able to capitalize on their mistakes or bait them into doing their favorite thing like calling Aldo's right hand shot. If you wacth the replay again, there's an angle that shows Conor not even flinch on Aldo's left fake to set up his right. He just waits, steps and fires. Give Aldo credit, he was still able to connect as he was going out. Rockhold gave Weidman a taste of his own medicine. Again, Rockhold studied Weidman's tendencies and based his strategy around that. Holly did the same thing against Ronda. What we're seeing now is the emergence of fight strategy for MMA becoming as important as the confidence and skill of the fighter and their team. Whether it's from the fighter or their trainers, being able to strategize for each opponent is extremely important. Especially when trying to dethrone a dominant champion. Great card!

Weell said man. I agree this continues to evolve and so do the fighters... And fighters are getting better every day. People like Jon Jones, Luke Rockhold, and even Weidman and Cain Velasquez, and DC even to an extent are a new breed of athlete. The game plans to beat fighters as you said will also continue to evolve. Just get rid of that fucking Dana White and the sport will be better off. lol. Just kidding. I just hope amd want fighters to have more rights and more options and pay to go up. I love Bellator and WSF and FOne. Competition is a good thing; this is America. Just like in Boxing you have Golden Boy, Top Rank, and Al Haymons premiere boxing I think it is called, and you many UK promoter... MMA should be the same.

Nah Jones can finish but doesn't have nearly the same ko rate as conor and losing consciousness is far scarier than grinding out 5 rounds
@zshakur
@zshakur 9 жыл бұрын
incarser101 Tell that to Brandon Vera. I think he'd have preferred getting KOd to getting his orbital bone cracked by an elbow from Jones. Grinding is not the same as being battered for 5 rounds. Jones is scary because of all the ways he can and has finished opponents. Submission, TKO, KO...He's destroyed every opponent he's faced except Gus. He's a scary dude.
@incarser101
@incarser101 9 жыл бұрын

A champion like Jose deserves a rematch for his title straight of the back, then Conor will fight the lightweight champion at UFC 200, then he can defend both titles (if he wins) against Frank Edgar. Then he should probably vacate his featherweight belt and permanently move-up to the lightweight division. That should be his plans for 2016.

I don't buy into this Mcgregor hype just yet. So far he has been able to psych opponents out, get them to do things they wouldn't normally do and land that left. He has done well to get to the top of featherweight but this is the height of his achievements in the UFC . His best chance for another win is to rematch Aldo. Aldo is a better fighter but Mcgregor has his number. If he decides to fight Edgar, I don't thing he will be able to manipulate Edgar the way he did Aldo and Edgar would grind out a victory. If he moves up to light weight either Dos Angos or Cerrone would destroy him. He has been effective at featherweight due to his large frame and fighting long but at lightweight this advantage would disappear. Unfortunately Mcgregor era will be short lived, I hope i'm wrong because he is good for the sport.

+Grahame Sammon not even close LMFAO, Butchered aha that's a good one buddy keep beliving that you nuthugger, he didn't prove shit, I think the only reason he gave Aldo his respect is because he got punched by Aldo as he was going outcold LOL did yo usee the damage on that punch? one punch and Connor knew he had insane power unlike the other featherweights, Connor didnt even seem that happy lol he even says that wasn't the best Aldo, he was happier when he won 60 Grand when he knocked someone out lol, Connor is outstanding on his feet i respect him for that and he deserves credit for his accomplishments but if you think Connor is now better than Aldo lmao you're retarded, He hasn't proven shit against a champion, all Aldo proved was that he sucks at placing his arms back up high after retracting from a punch, and not tucking his chin in, simple boxing shit he was eager to go in and ignored, and he paid for it.

All those faults you said about aldo SHOULD not be there at this level thats badic stuff he could not manage. How can i say Mcgregor is a much better fighter than aldo? 13 seconds tells me that you fucking fool. And in a rematch he will knock him out again maybe not in 13 seconds but wil win by ko.

Conor mental game is very strong I don't remember any fighter in the UFC history has that or even close but that mentality needs hard hard preparation and Conor put his heart in to it but when the fame get him more he will not keep up with the same pase when this time comes hope he GSP dana white in the face.

Nothing suspicious about it. I watched it live in HD and the slow mo replay speaks volumes. Mcgreggor sparked him clean out. Nuff said.

Conor McGregor is a fantastic fighter! Probably the best ever. But he is going to fall. Not because he is going to loose a fight anytime soon . Ufc will never let him keep both belts at the same time. They will make him to vacate Featherweight belt ,if he decides to go up and fight for a belt in a lightweight division. Based on what he said in his post ufc 194 interview, Mcgregor will not like it a bit. He wants to keep both belts. Like it or not, ufc will not let him keep one belt and fight for another. Either McGregor swallows his ego, or ufc will eat him alive. And that 9 figures fighting contract McG is talking about... Give me a brake. That will never happen. The conflict is right there. McG's ego is growing and conflict will happen. it's just a matter of time

If all this mental BS shit that these guys talk about is true about McGregor's team, how come it doesn't work for the others in that team? Gunnar?? Artev?? I think it's a case of an individual rather than anything coming from that camp.
