Colby spoke about Usman's kids, his late trainer and his ex-convict father, he brought Masvidal's familial conflict into the public eye (albeit neither were as dark as what he said to Leon) he still crossed a line. I feel the difference between the two and Leon is that they are willing to cut a promo and partake in the trashtalk (they wanted to sell PPVs), Leon just fights, carries himself as a true martial artist and does so hoping his truly elite skillset speaks for itself and makes him money.

You might not like him and he hasn't fought in years either so i don't see what that has to do with anything, but YEARS ago, when he was fighting, he was a very good fighter and had great performances in his fights, you can't say that he didnt have that. He had some great performances against Lawler, RDA, Maia, Usman the first fight and the fight against Jorge. He is not the person he was back then, time changes us all.

@@Viking4real you are creating a false narrative. You're bringing up performances against a bunch of fighters who were 1. all over 35 and YEARS out of their prime 2. Easiest style match ups 3. had all been beaten several times, most of them several losses in a row prior to fighting colby 4. He ducked every single actual contender. Look at the killers usman/leon/ burns/etc faced and look at colby resume. He has the worst resume of any title shot challenger in the sport. He was never good, he was just good at ducking anybody who was a legitimate threat to any top 10 welterweight until it was title shot time and we saw what happened. His whole reputation was based on wars with Usman, who is also a good style match up that negates Colbys biggest weaknesses and he still got his jaw broke. Give it up the guy was a bum and it was all a media narrative pushed because of the usman fights. He would have been exposed several times but has gone missing every single time he was offered a legitimate challenge from the UFC...literally gone missing UFC couldnt get a hold of him while setting up these fights.

everyone is discussing what crossed the line and what didn't but the disturbing thing is that over the years, WE as the MMA community, pundits, fighters, fans, have become conditioned to this kind of gutter garbage talk--it's become so normalised that we have to even discuss among ourselves whether it is ok or not. Can you imagine what will happen if Colby had won? We would be like, "ok, winning is all that matters, it is just business etc". Those two situations are not analogous at all. I'm pretty surprised since Anik seems to be a pretty bright individual. 1.
